You see nothing. The candle has gone out just as your flashlight dies. The door leading upstairs slams shut. You stand there for a moment, terrified but unable to scream. You pray that it was just a harmless shadow and not something else - something sinister. You stumble around the basement looking for the door. After what felt like an eternity you reach the door and to your horror, it's locked. You're trapped with whatever was the game down here. Suddenly, you recall that there were some candles stored in a nearby box for emergencies. You slowly make your way through the darkness and open the nearby box. In it, you find a few candles and some matches. You were never good at lighting matches but it seems effortless this time. Finally, a dim but much needed light fills the room. You light the other candles and place them around the room in case the one you are holding is blown out. The light fills you with a new sense of bravery and you decide to check out the laundry room again. As you creep towards it, you hope it was nothing. As you enter the laundry room, you remember there was a light switch somewhere in there. You place the candle on the washing machine and look for the pull switch. As you turn around you see the shadow quickly disappear again. That new sense of bravery quickly turns to a full panic. Now you are sure someone or something is down here with you. You go back and look into the other room as a figure jumps onto you and knocks you to the ground. As you look up at the figure you notice one of his legs seems to be made of ivory. He thrusts a harpoon towards the sky as he looks you straight in the eye. You fear that this is the end of your life. As you turn away you notice a shotgun hidden underneath a nearby storage shelf. You grab it and pray there is ammunition inside. As you point the gun at his head the trigger seems to go off on it's own. His head seems to explode and his broken body falls to the ground. Blood is everywhere. You don't have time to even take a breath as something grabs your legs and pulls you to the ground. You look towards what seems to be another shadowy figure and pull the trigger. Nothing happens. You throw the gun away and kick as violently as you can. The figure releases you. As you lie there, you close your eyes for a moment, trying to take in what has just happened. When you open your eyes again you see your girlfriend standing over you. "What are you doing here on the floor?" she asks with a puzzled look on her face. You respond... A) I'm not sure I even know... B) What are YOU doing in here? C) Someone just attacked me! D) We have to get out of here.
A) Lets see. Strange room appears in my house, disrupts the torch, implants memories into my head, and has a self-closing door. At this point we can't even be sure if the door leads back to my home or not.
My answer would depend what else I see, like if the lights are working, or if the gun and candles are gone. And most importantly if the door is open.
