Well my job is not special. To put it simply I am a federal contractor. To get into detail, I am a teleworker in the retirement information office for the office of personnel management. The job is thankless and since we are contractors, we get shit on by the feds that do the same job we do but halved assed. I was trained to work in a print shop operating printing presses and other machines you would find in a shop like that. Sadly where I live, there are only two print shops and they employees are not going anywhere I have also spent a short time learning graphic design.
It's hard to get anywhere in the graphics industry unless you find a niche that few other people are any good at. At least 70% of my class was homogeneous in skills and work...
Yeah I know the feeling. I'm not really pushing for a GD job right now. Just some thing that I can work 40 hours a week and a steady schedule would be nice
Yeah, been there - and still am there. I got lucky after about a year, managed to find a place where I could work in 3D without too much artistic wangst in the studio, and better still, who would actually hire me.
Tenancy Manager for Public Housing in the Darwin region...... its not classy and its dangerous at times - but you get to meet some great people at times and it pays my bills.
