Unfortunately on the open sees anti piracy laws mean our sailors cant fire until the other side takes an "aggressive action" of which boarding is not one of them. So they just dont carry guns at all.

Which is ridiculous. Plus the guys on the boats and sailors not military men, giving them weapons just makes the situation worse. If a small vessel of armed men boarding your ship is not an aggressive action I don't know what it is. Things need to change.

If they take a ship and kill the hostages, what is there to stop a helicopter coming to the captured ship and killing anyone that moves on it ?

So if they are stupid enough to actually take revenge, this means that things will just become worse for them as the cries to wipe them out increase.

    Which politicians ?
    Somalia has no real government.

i think they should implement, 1.) armed escorts 2.) Doesnt matter who you are, 1000 yards to stay clear or you are getting shot down.

Its sad to think are Navy, besides the SEAL's are useless, seriously; give them a job thats worth something.

These pirates are not the only pirates in the world and I was referring to pirates over all in this day and age. The fact that this sort of crap still goes on in this day and age is ridiculous.

Pirates attack U.S. cargo ship but fail to get aboard.

They can't take revenge on Americans if they can't take them hostage.

Thing is that almost none of the media attention is actually saying what their cause is. Which from what I've read they claim they are pirating to stop off shore dumping. I call bullshit but meh.

Because, think about it? How many of us really knew about the pirates from the start? TBH i keep up on all news 24/7 and I never heard of them till now. Think how this is recruiting into there ranks or/ recruiting other people over the world to rebel against the industrilized nations, media has alot to do with these types of things..

I think that this is just the start to these types of organizations, we will c..by all means I hope I am wrong.
