I hate to be negative, but the old "good games" sometimes just need to be left alone for nostalgia reasons. Maybe, just maybe, but without fingers crossed, can they revive such an amazingly respected game that was UO.
Ultima Online was the daddy of all MMORPG's back in the day. Even to this day I still think about going back to it. We can only hope.
Loved the game to death, which is what has happened to it sadly, the main reason.. EA got their corporate hands on it. Since the potential sequel is being done by EA, you can expect all aspects to revolve around money, and how they can make more of it. I'm not even going to be following it if its true.
if they just made it 3d with updated graphics and left it pre tram ... same system same combat etc etc ... i would never leave my house
due to the fact that people dont want to loose their items and be ganked... yeah, no tram will never happen, they have to appeal to the majority.
My thoughts on what they should do with UO (the current game and not the upcoming one) recreate it using a 3D engine but keeping the isometric view point. Make it a browser based game. Bring back the old school flavor PVP (i.e. no Trammel/Felucca split) The main idea is remaking it browser game and probably reducing the sub cost back down to 9.99 or lower. The thing with that though, was getting gear wasnt hard to do. if you had an alt, you pretty much could make all the armor you wanted super cheap. it was also pretty cheap buying from other players too "basic gear" mind you. only time it sucked to get ganked was if you happened to be carrying a weapon "of the vanquishing" .. which most people didnt anyway =P even now I believe you can insure items? so they stay on your corpse.
