I haven't seen anyone on the server for a bit so I shut it down for the moment to save some $. I am guessing everyone is waiting for the patch/wipe to hit. If you needed something off a planet let me know and I'll bring it online long enough for you to get your stuff.
I wasn't really on since I had nothing I wanted to do on the server and no one was on anytime I checked, not even yourself. That and AC4.
Okay updated for real this time. Steam was having some issues. I have reduced the memory of the server to test those memory leak patches in the update. let me know how the server does.
Well there is still a memory leak but not near as bad. For those who were playing today did we get coords for a good home system and planet?
What do you mean by "good home system and planet"? Are you planning on having all players set up their home planet marker on the same planet? Instead of suffixing the channel name with " - patched" you might want to simply give the version string " v. Furious Koala". It's an unusual thing to see in a world of version numbers and might actually get people interested in the game, as well as informing the one's already playing that the server is up to date.
You are more than welcome to make your home planet where ever you want but playing the game multi player one would assume that players might want to do some co-op work.
Here in the DELTA quadrant is where I found my Bubble Boost tech (a variant of the Butterfly tech), a few meters to the left of the spawn:
Started playing on our server yesterday, it works like a charm Q. I was always alone tho but i played only a couple of short sessions. I'll go on TS when playing this week. I'm on the newbie solar system tho it seems (the one big purple planet with 3 moons). This game really feels awesome, will need to learn how to play it properly tho.
Congrats on the Bubble Tech, Leonard. You're finally starting to catch up to me! The Bubble Boost is a better version of the Butterfly Boost, as it's faster for the same energy drain. Among other similar techs: Gravity Neutralizer and Gravity Bubble -- Neutralizer stops your fall, while Bubble is a very slow, gimped version of the Boost techs. They can be easily mistaken because of similar names, one is nearly useless, while the other is good for precision platforming.
Having looked for a planet that had storms on it for what seemed like an eternity (seriously, I mined 3000+ diamond ore in that time), I finally turned to rummaging the game's files for info. Apparently, there is no such thing as a single weather per world. Here's how it looks for the forest biome: Code: "weather" : [ [ [0.1, "rain" ], [0.05, "storm" ], [0.025, "glowingrain" ], [0.125, "drizzle" ], [0.7, "clear" ] ], [ [0.05, "acidrain" ], [0.95, "clear" ] ], [ [0.1, "snow" ], [0.9, "clear" ] ], [ [0.03, "meteorshower" ], [0.97, "clear" ] ], [ [0.01, "largemeteor" ], [0.99, "clear" ] ], [ [1.0, "clear" ] ], [ [1.0, "clear" ] ], [ [1.0, "clear" ] ], [ [1.0, "clear" ] ], [ [1.0, "clear" ] ], [ [1.0, "clear" ] ] ], What does this mean? That the forest biome has 11 presets for weather. Each forest world will use a single of these presets chosen as it's weather. Meaning, that if a forest planet choses the second preset, each time it does a roll to change weather it has a 5% chance of starting acid rain and 95% chance of clearing all weather. The first preset is a bundle of all normal rain types and glowing rain, explaining why I haven't found it yet: for a forest planet to have that preset it's 1/11, for it to have a storm going after a weather tick the chance is 1/20, meaning that if I say on a planet for a single weather tick before moving on, the chance of it being the one I'm looking for is 1/220, or 0.0045%. I guess now I'm going to have to look for a planet that has storms in it's presets (barren, forest, grasslands, jungle, savannah, tentacles and surprisingly -- snow, magma and volcanic) and look for any form of normal rain, since whenever a planet has storms, it seems to be packaged with rain, drizzle and usually glowing rain. Sadly, my underwater base will take longer to complete then I initially expected, because storms are the only way currently in the game to generate water and they only have a 5% chance of occurring during a change in weather. In other news: Leonard! I found a wizard spawner. It was a drop from a glitch wizard that I mercilesly slaughtered!
I found a wizard spawner as well (using the same method as you) -- unlike any other merchant they sell stims for the original low prize of 200ish. Unfortunately, all my weapons have projectiles or an AoE effect, so days later I accidentally killed him when beaming myself up and alt-tabbing out of the game, and back into it. However, I have now gotten hold of an Avarian cook, who sells bread and various other goods, and a Glitch scientist/doctor (can't remember which). I have yet to see a planet in my short Starbound life that's ravaged by storms. I've seen every other weather effect but storms so far, out of which large meteor showers were the most illustrious. Since I've acquired Bubble Tech (from a Delta planet), I feel like I've reached the end game, and there's not much else to do for me in Starbound. However, I do like the direction the developers are going with in terms of progression and end game that they've recently outlined in more detail in a post. However, such a plan would beg another character wipe, otherwise I don't see how it's all coming together.
