Give Dash a discount, he deserves it. Consider it a donation to XoO. :D

Heh, kinda reminds me of the "Get Dash a new PC fund"

Um yeah something is wrong with your system if a 465 is not out performing a 9800, it also depends on the rest of your hardware though.

Also 5850s are going for cheap and out perform 465s in most tests.

Also depends on the rest of his system. Could also be the game is not as optimized as others and might not be the cards problem completely. Lots of variables!

So Twi, you got a 480 and a 500 series card? Which one?

Or the 6850, and you can flash it to a 6870 for free and its easy, and then you have performance within 5% of a GTX580 for WAY less.

Yeah TigerDirect lost me as a customer when they did that pink friday a few years ago making it look like they were going to donate money to breast cancer and ended up not donating a dime but keeping it all.

Yeah that too. You can flash a 465 into a 470, but honestly (me being a huge Nvidia guy till recently) ATi stuff just outperforms Nvidia in most stuff. The only thing was their driver support is as good as Nvidia, but the currents ones have been doing a good job lately.

in black ops and bad company tons of the 400 and 500 series cards have trouble handling the shaders properly, i didnt neccesarrily say a 9800gtx is performing better but what i mean was that i didnt have the same issues the newer crap nvidia is putting out. The latest nvidia beta driver does improve the performance a lot but there are still common issues in black ops where nvidia cards will have stuttering problems when loading character models and previous to the latest beta driver the cards would easily take twice as long as other cards to load maps in BC2 and CODBO. to reiterate my point if i have a 400 series card thats going to stutter out everytime i see a person or like sokar has problems with how it will just lag for the first minute of gameplay, which card is perferable? the one that wont stutter and lag randomly or the one that isnt going to perform as well?

i used to be a die hard nvidia fanboy for the longest time (since the gforce4 ti4400 was boss) i even owned shares of the company for 7 years but the products they have been letting out the door is just unacceptable. I know that if nvidia doesnt turn their shit around ill be getting a nice AMD card.

Yeah there are a little more problems, but its new technology and they have seemed to have figured most of it out, just like ATi had driver problems for a long time.

Also 9800 and 8800 architectural were around for a while so they had plenty of time to get those right. While I do think they were great cards they are nothing to what these cards are today. It still amazes me how fast this crap grows, but its why I love it haha

I use an 8800GTX Ultra Superclocked (the ones that were $1000 at launch). I want to upgrade to an ATi 6870, but there's nothing I play that my current card can't handle. So I'm just waiting for that eye-candy to come out, to give me an excuse to upgrade.

I like the idea of switching back to ATi. Brings back good gaming memories of the time I ran a 9800pro. I liked the feel of the graphics better with an ATi card.

Well looks like I will be getting a new video card. Card finally burnt out on me. Artifact and hard locked three times at windows login. Artifact on POST screen now. Safe mode driver clean and reinstall. No luck.

Oh and temps on gpu were 52 before hard lock.
