Would be interesting to see. Would like a wow esque MMO but with non of the BG's, resilience, etc... that is in the crap wow has today... Bring back the good shit of having to try and get the good gear by world pvp not this crap they have now.
? What game were you playing, world PvP never rewarded gear without BGs, and in fact, was mostly just for fun before BGs were put in at which point they actually added some PvP objectives (even if they were instanced, with some PVP items like the PvP trinket etc.) Later on they added the PvP ranks with a crappy system of leveling up your ranks, but also finially added some gear that could compete with the raid gear from MC and BWL. The game is strong PvE with PvP as an afterthought, and WoW will never have good PvP unless they change that so that the world PvP is the primary focus, with PvE as the afterthought... Why? Because it's too hard to balance well for PvP and PvE. You tend to balance your classes around one or the other and WoW picks PvE. The balanced for 5v5 crap is just that as there are classes that can solo in PvP just fine without 5v5, while others can't. If it was really balanced for 5v5 all classes would have trouble solo as they would be missing either dps, or survival, or something that the other 4 classes should be bringing to the table. Resilience sucks though for sure It means that if you want to PvP you have to have the same gear as teh other PvP players to do well... it was a stupid idea to make PvP gear important for PvP over the PvE gear from raiding... Face it, WoW and Blizzard are there for PvE at this point... it's why we had such high hopes for things like warhammer, and darkfall etc... we are wanting a true pvp game, but I have honestly given up on blizzard giving that, even though all the warcraft games were PvP really... (yes they had single player, but the fun was in the multiplayer stuff)
I haven't read the whole thread, but this is what I know... Blizzard is working on 5 games right now. WoW, Starcraft 2, Diablo III, a "Next-Gen MMO" and a new IP title. The MMO is supposed to be among the primary 3 IP's the studio has, and the new IP title is obviously a new IP, but a standard "non-MMO" game. The new IP is not supposed to be the MMO. Of course, this is just what I've been told so far. But from my understanding and everything I've read the MMO and the new IP are two separate games.
WOOT! A Lost Vikings MMO! I'm in... Edit: ...OMG, Or a Rock N Roll Racing MMO! Even better! I played the shit out of that game. I can't wait!
yeah that woud be awesome! a Rock N Roll Racing MMO woud be inded the gratest thing ever! insted of mounts you have cool pimp out rides with mashinguns and rokets. your avatar is in a future like town, and buys stuff and then enter races to the death with over 600 other players, and there is only one winner! epic racing, future like stuff. and of course kick ass Rock and Roll!
I was wondering the same thing, personally I think the Sci Fi mmo market is anemic. There is an opening for a new scifi game if it is done well, and not like Tabula Rasa lol
yeah i still vote for a rock and roll racing, or blackthunder(i think is the name of the of that blizzard prince of persia kind of game lol) lol that woud be funny
I don't care what they are making, I'm not interested in it because of the major failure WoW was. Yes I know its the most popular MMO ever and made them billions but that doesn't mean it was a good game. Granted I will give the benefit of the doubt but I don't see this game being anything spectualr. Another casual experience with no depth and plenty of flaws at launch. Hopefully this time it will die instead of selling millions.
Hmm, if it is sci-fi, wouldn't that mean it would be based around Starcraft then? If the next gen mmo is one of the 3 original IP's then that would be the best guess if they are going sci-fi no?
I thought TR was ok... I liked they tried to move away from the target and forget crap in most mmos we have now... but face it, MMOs are actually worse off for WoW because everyone now thinks that is what an MMO should be... and they have to compete with WoW which really won out the casual market, so even games that do well as MMOs look like they are doing badly vs WoW.
Wondering if you even played WoW. Their launch was just as bad an 99% of the mmos who launch. The game content is more indepth than most mmos on the market. The only difference between them and other mmos(outside of the easy playstyle) is that they actually added content... PvP was an afterthought but don't play WoW for pvp and you don't have to be all emo about it heh. Or do you just not like anything the masses enjoy?
yeah i know how sokar and nish feels. WoW has a lot of strong points, and it was baced in extremly populat IP(witch is a grate way to start with a desent playbase) but we can all agree that WoW is bad PvP game, balance is non existace, and the grind a.k.a amount of time you need to do something, to do the next thing it just sukks. i hope with the stuff they learned with WoW they can deliver a game with core PvP in mind, where you dont need to do X to do Y, and where the player skill is woth more than the time invested just doing what ever you need to do.
yeah, this was my thought but much nicer about it. WoW is ridden with issues and bugs, and despite how much people love to hate the lag or bugs, etc., blizzard actually releases fixes (true, they often break something else, but things do get fixed and concerns get addressed)
Actually I did play WoW. I got it when it first released and the game wasn't complete. Yes I know WoW was in the same condition as most MMO's missing content, unbalanced, repetitive and what not but I held it to a higher standard because it was so popular. I never saw what the pother was about. So I quit 3 months after hitting about level 40. I didn't play for a year. Consider I was jumping ot conclusion about the game and I don't do that about anythign. I came back one year later and played to max level on Warsong. Did Molten Core and other high level dungeous and still felt the game was lacking. Maybe it was because I didn't have a great community to play with like XoO but I think it was more because the game isn't great. PVP is a joke, the end game results in smashing the same 3 spells over and over, but what pisses me off the most is that is so successful. People automatically associate it's success with it being a quality product. I've been playing games since I was 4 and WoW isn't a quality game. No matter how many subscriptions they have. I can't comment for what it is now but the only thing Bilzzard was successful at is was making the game accessible for all types of gamers new and old and the ones who never played a game in there life. What do they really know about quality game anyway? Finally to answer your question do I like anything the masses like? The answer is NO because of the majority people in the world are fucking idiots. They know nothing more than what they are told and don't bother to investigate things on their own. Intelligence isn't book smarts either. You can be doctor and have multiple PHDs in various areas and still be a complete fucking idiot. Compare it to finances a majority of the worlds wealth is controlled by 5% of the population and the same goes for the majority of the brightest people.
I'm just curious as to why you think it's not? From what you do mention though, I don't think that's really quality related. In my mind, if something is of poor quality.. it would be really simple things made badly. To me, and I wouldn't call myself a fanboy.. but I think it's one of the better made mmo's out there. Quality wise in fact. I wasn't one of the people that burned through the game on day one. So I really cant say what end game was like back then. But from day one to about 44 (just about like you) it was a pretty solid game. I never really came a crossed any game breaking bugs. Minor details really made the world seem real. Most if not all of the animations were done really well. (better then any other mmo at the time..) Spell effects were nice.. nothing really amazing but still well made. The Quests imho were well made. Some quite funny. But true, boring at times.. They didn't do anything new there. I didn't do any dungeons back then but have in resent years. I think the ones I did do were very interesting. Almost around every turn was a "whoa" moment. Yes they would get boring once you've ran them a hundred times. But that doesn't mean they aren't well made. Of course to each their own, but in my mind.. WoW is a quality game. and still is even with somewhat dated graphics =P I quit at 44 because my wife lost interest, and the guild I was in fell apart. It seems my trouble was finding a good guild. Every time one would fall, I would quit a few months later =P
Compared to Hellgate London most games are amazing. @FSS: Way to fuck up a game with amazing potential.
