I find Maddox is very informative and consistently accurate with both the coverage and validity of his points. This on the other hand is a matter of personal opinion, which I accept only because I acknowledge and respect people who have a much more sensitive and bending state of mind than I do.
I think people logging in and saying hello helps alot with building groups. Alot of times you miss people logging in and it helps to let you know who is available for groups etc.
Hehe, I was being sarcastic about the Hi... you know I say Howdy or Hiya every time I log in But i still hate ding.
Now I have to make sure to say Ding at every level I get, heck I'll say it for people that forget to say it.
Been there, done that, hehe I like to say huzzah when I level, but I'm gonna go with "bong!" from now on.
I think he works for Burger King. @Thog: Yeah, you're normally online when I get on or I say 'hey sully'
You find his columns as you do because you agree with his opinions, not because of any true factual validity to his statements. Statements like "Idaho Blows" may sound right to you and me, however, I'm sure there are people in Idaho or elsewhere who wouldn't trade that state for any other place. As for what I was getting at with the Maddox comment. Because the OP is obviously intended to be inflammatory, it follows the same point as many of Maddox's posts. The OP, however, lacked the satirical wit and good ole' malice that Maddox has, and failed at his intention. All he managed to do was generate discussion.
If you want to debate the merits of Idaho I invite you to try, otherwise if you want to pick another one out of the filler material or his own personal rage rants that don't carry much of a point then go ahead, but then again in that case his point would be that those things piss him off, which they do, so he's covered either way?
Lev, he's right. Maddox rants and that is what he does, often in a manner several people find funny. Generally, from what I know, he expresses opinions, not to be confused with concrete facts. And also, you may want to stay away from debating locations. People in Iowa likely enjoy living there. Just like in Canada, most of us look down upon Quebec and say it would be a shitty place to live, but the people who live there enjoy it. And please, in future situations please dont derail topics by starting a debate on something that is completely irrelevant to the topic at hand.
I clearly didn't start a debate about Idaho, a member approached one of my comments and tried to discredit a writer I tend to like, but seeing as he failed to convince me of any actual fail on that part I invited him to persuade me of his point, if he wanted to. As for Quebec, I have no idea. It's probably a decent place to live, but as far as politics go it's not in a good spot right now. I can imagine Idaho being incredibly boring, some places are just boring to be, and whether the people who live there happen to enjoy the peaceful simplicity of nothing to do or see doesn't change the point that it apparently doesn't have much to offer. As for derailing, I don't see any rules about static thread topics, convos naturally separate and evolve, either that or die/wither. If you have something to talk about, please, go ahead, but picking at my points won't bring you any closer to a situation that fits your ideals of what should be happening in this situation, Brownmccoy.
wow... You actually did derail it beforehand once you replied solely on a comment he used earlier as a comparison and elaborated on the topic of the author. And as for rules regarding static thread topics... its called the topic title. I know that i personally hate it when a topic I am involved in becomes a debate about something completely different because if I have more input on it the conversation is something different and we could miss out on another member's point of view on the topic. As for your last comment... I wasn't picking apart your points so much as saying the debate that was started is irrelevant to the topic. Anyway, I'm done with debating this in the forums. If you feel like you want to discuss this or any other topic further, my PM box is always open.
I'm not a fan of the "Ding" either. I'd say Ding if you switch tiers and when you hit max level at the most. Ding 12 might let people in T2 you are ready to join up. Overall I think it gets to be too much.
I never do it either until max level or significant level is achieved. I won't do it until 40 in WAR and then 80 for RR. I guess listening to it since 1999 has desensitized me. UO you dealt with 6X GM!! lol..
