Nope . Shitty luck the copy of Lion I had made from my brothers computer ended up getting corrupted, but he is going to send me a flash drive with it on it and I'm going to use a friends MacBook Pro to format it and do the UniBeast all-in-one install. I will be delayed for a while =\.
I just started trying to get iAtkos L2 (Lion 10.7.2) to work since I have to wait for my brother to send the flash drive. I get to the boot screen and everything, but I have been getting stuck on because of "bug: launchctl.c 2408" apparently a file is missing so I am going to try re-downloading and burning the image to a disc again. Also have you seen they release the developer preview of Mountain Lion and apparently people have had success upgrading to it as well, but I don't plan on doing that just was curious if you saw it.
looks like a disc problem to me, as well. Reburn, but do no faster than 4x. And no, I havent seen much about Mountain Lion installing. But, they are ugrading like this to combat people like us. They are moving macs further and further from PC's. In fact, dont be surprised if the next iMac (due out any day) is a touchscreen- or if not that, then the next macbook. With the amount of iOS shit they are throwing at was a very simple and clean OS, I cant think of any other reason why they would be doing what they are doing. I'd say just wait for the flash drive and move on from there. Or, buy your friend with the mac the App store version and use that and unibeast to create your own flash drive. That was, you can support him for his time. If he already did that.... then what are you waiting for the mail for? just install unibeast on your own flash drive and be done!
I had it installed for a little, but I started having issues with some of the kexts so I was going to re-install and try again, but now after I did the install it gets stuck at booting on a white screen with the apple in the center. (I use the boot flags -v npci=0x2000 and the screen is after all the loading.) I been busy with my classes and a girl so it kind of got put on the back seat for now. I might have to wait for my brother to come down in another week to get the USB with his original lion on and try the Unibeast method since it seems to be a better option. (He can't find his 2nd USB and needs at least one.) It is for sure a fun experience and have been enjoying all the manipulation. Did you get yours all set up and stabilized?
oh god.... yeah I just said to hell with the downloads and bought snow leopard- then bought Lion off the app store. Not the cheap "hack" way, but sure was quicker. I figured I was spending more time not working and beating head against the desk and that it wasnt worth my time. When I do that, the checkbook usually starts coming out. Bought it/Installed first try and runs like a champ. Completely stable q9550 quad core, 8gb ddr3 ram, on Lion with latest updates. Remember, I have some hard earned experience setting these up and I know what to look out for with My hardware. So, it was a little easier adapting to the SL and Lion installs. Your's may take a little more work. I'd love to see a similar success story, just keep me updated!
No luck. I am just going to wait until I get the new MacBook Air when they are released and sell my iPad 2. I was planning on doing that anyways, but I just wanted to mess around with OS X for now.
Well lets not give up that quickly, then. This pain is part of the payoff. You get to really learn how a mac works when trying to finagle a pc to run it! What happened?
I tried both the iAtkos and the UniBeast All-in-One Bootable USB with no success. I was able to install it fairly easy, but kept running into problems with the initial booting into it. I tried a multitude of different boot flags which yielded some temporary success. I started to consistently get to the past all the loading, but would get stuck on an blank white apple screen without any kind of cogwheel (I did always boot in Verbose Mode so it was after the loading with code.). I left it on through the night one time to see if it was just my impatience that was the issue, but it was still on that screen. It isn't a big deal if I can't get it to work it was just kind of an experiment because I have an extra HDD in my computer. I am still going to get the new MacBook Air when it comes out regardless of if I get it working or not. It is definitely fun to tinker with though and entertained me for a while.
