Invites are in no way attached to the benchmark. It may be your DXdiag that is holding you back but I have a graphics card that isn't even recommended(8800gt) and Ive been in since alpha.

I only scored a 2586 on the benchmark without any driver updates.

Well since people dont want to use the ffxiv fourms ill post it here AGAIN :p

JeuxOnLine:The minimum requirements that appear on pre-orders are very differentfrom those required for alpha testing, but they are insufficient to achieve a correct score on Benchmark. How can you explain sucha drop of prerequisites?

Tanaka:Because it is an MMORPG, we have maximized the quality of play so that players benefit long term. Over time, I'm sure you will be ableto obtain a high score on Benchmark, but today’s equipment is notable to reach the maximum score. This was made on purpose. But because technology evolves rapidly, you will be able to reach a highscore with an average computer in the near future."

Well, I just App'd today and they only asked what specs I had like Core 2duo, what series GFX, etc etc. No DXdiag or benchmark stuff at all.

I think they just want to make sure they got people that can run the game for these alpha stages, they aren't strict on it though it seems.

Well when you guys DL it please tell me if the combat is slow or not. And if you could compare it's pace to another game.

    Thx

Slow. So slow. Though I say its slow some people in TS said I can't compare it to other games so I compare it to me not wanting to wait around an hour to bore my brains out with a drill while trying to kill one mob.

Its on the slow end of mmos. Maybe not because of kill time since most games take anywhere from 30-45sec, though 14 takes about 1min +, but due to the fact that combat actions just look so slow that its boring.

if you ever played wow it reminds me of the rogue energy, as long as you have energy for a move then you can do it

Well you have your stam bar (like a rogues energy bar) as long as you have stam you can attack. as you hit you do damage and gain TP, Tp is used for weapon skills/magic spells etc. so its like you need to auto hit to gain enough tp to use a special attack of some sorts. its like ffxi if you played it but faster.

Of course it's going to be when your comparing it to games like WoW, Aion, or even AoC. Those are all fast paced action MMOs. The FF series at least from a standpoint for MMOs has always been about strategy, team work, and depth when it comes to combat. Not mindless, mashing of 2 buttons over and over again.

With that being said this game isn't for everyone, as Sokar stated. But there is no need to call it boring, by doing that your not giving the game a fair chance to those who might want to try the game out.
