Selfish bump for my own personally selfish reasons. I know this game wont be out for a long time but I am major hyped already about it. As long as the view mode still has the option for "through the characters eye's" rather than the camera floating behind the player (possible game killer for me) I'm likely to become obsessed, been waiting for this genre of game forever. Also bumping with a game play screenie. (Currently crappy graphics/textures rendered but that's something they will work on last)
ive been playing fallout 3 the last week or so...love it...and getting stoked for the online...also for las vegas
If they make anything the need to make an elders scrolls game online that would be much better in my eyes
I would love to get my hands on this. Nothing feels better than blowing a Super Muttie Behemoth to bits with a Fatman!
Just teasers into side stories from what I have found out. Like just things to give interest and let people know they are keeping us updated somewhat. Nooo, wont be for quite some time yet sadly. Looking at around a year at best if my sources are correct. By assumptions on how long they have already been in development this would suggest that the game is only around 40% complete and this is likely to be a very very complex system of a game to balance. Don't expect it to be any time soon but when it does hit beta, expect it to be one of the biggest mmo's ever to date. The expectations of this game are so high they cant afford to mess up. There was / is a online version of one of the earlier Fallout games in 2D (Fan made but by professionals), even though the game was hugely outdated it drew such a large crowd the original server overloaded. The 2D old version are still in development but is functional and playable. People were literally going crazy and fighting over the Alpha invites, I remember websites getting hacked just for the purpose of getting into the game. I also remember one person selling an early game invite for £250+. Alot of Russians involved in the project so I could only understand parts of what they were saying. Even though this online conversion is old and outdated its still has a consistent amount of players in the hundreds. I think the one server still has an average of 200+ people on at a time, that's huge for a unadvertised / old outdated and underground game. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Yf4pJ2F8MGY Really, you have no idea how big this game could turn out to be. It will change the future of online gaming.
I wasn't a fan of fallout, I sighed up though. Also about the "quests are fun" thing. Quests CAN be fun. But when you get quests like. "The guy over on that hill stole my goat go kill him and bring me his legs." They are not fun, they are boring. Most MMOs have quests like this and I would rather just skip them and go explore. Walls of text don't help either, it just makes the quest even more boring. To make a decent quest you require a good story and scripting, but not a story that is in the form of a quest pop up, maybe 2-3 lines from the NPC explaining the situation. What I'm saying is good quests aren't made by the writers but rather the programmers. Then you get a quest that you actually interact with and that has cutscenes which is always win. Aion did this to an extent, however they still kept the walls of text and lengthy explanations. Also, I do believe that such quests only existed early game and then they fell back to your stand MMO go kill these for me quests.
Well its good that they are releasing more info but it doesn't seem that are really on track with it. If they they are, they are not showing it.
Interplay and Bethesda have been going through some lawsuits and stuff recently. From what I gathered, it seems like Bethesda gave Interplay the rights to go ahead with the game, but after a year or two they haven't seen the progress they wanted and were trying to pull the contract. You can read a bit about it at http://news.bigdownload.com/2009/09...files-lawsuit-against-interplay-over-fallout/
