Actually, regarding "strange sentences".... Monday - 7:53pm: No updates thus far, except Six are the days until Diablo Anniversary, six are the letters in the word Diablo. Taking a look at the master.CSS file, the 04.jpg photo shown below at 2:30pm could be considered a alphabet letter. "04" -- the fourth letter of the alphabet is "D". If that's really a clue, tomorrow's image might be named "09.jpg" or letter "I" in the alphabet. But this is mere speculation. Also Monday - The original teaser image URL starts like: http://us.media.blizzard.com/232309/ W (23th letter of the alphabet). I (9th letter of the alphabet. Therefore 232309 means WWI (Worldwide Invitationals). Thanks, feelingshehides. Tuesday - The speculation was true: D (04.jpg - fourth letter of the alphabet) and today's image O (15.jpg - 15th letter) of the alphabet). At this rate the image numbers will reveal DIABLO. Tomorrow's image might be named any of this file names ... 01.jpg (standing for the first letter of the alphabet: A), 02.jpg (standing for B), 12 (standing for the twelve letter of the alphabet: L) or 09.jpg (standing for the nineth letter of the alphabet: I).
Yeah, that doesn't quite work with the runes though unless the first one was actually a Nef (4th rune -> D). I can't work out how it can be though - even the first image, which has somewhat better contrast, looks more like a Shael.
That was actually linked to a rune found on Frostmourne moreso than a shael rune. I think I posted a pic of it earlier.
New one out. The corresponding "letter" to the picture (W) doesn't really seem to match anything I know of, considering where it seems to fit with the others. The new name is "icy", which I presume is a reference to the Icy Cellar - also an act 5 location, albeit not one I visit much because it's so damn nasty in there. The new watermark isn't any rune I can figure out, but it does look strangely familiar. ... er. sec... ...it is the Protoss symbol they've been using on the Starcraft 2 site. Thus I'd go with your Frostmourne rune; they're using elements (however obscure) from all their games I would say. Frostmourne, Hel rune, Protoss... Also, stars are visible through the ice. What does this mean? Hard to say. There's also a slightly visible halo/aura from the light coming through, but it doesn't look like much IMO.
OK, little "photoshop" job putting the pieces together: Safe to say, I think, it probably isn't the Leviathan that has been reported.
Or Jormungard, or whatever it was >.> Some people have speculated that it may be a reference to Dashow for some reason, since that at least contains the appropriate letters. If the segments are lettered in counterclockwise order - by which we'd expect a bottom row to follow - then this at least is a possibility, even if it's strange.
Now they are just playing with us by putting something from tons of different games into it to make it really hard to figure out and are those stars of pieces of ice breaking off?
Blizz is always good at putting the carrot in front of us so the hype gets built for whatever they release. They are masters at it now.
Source The new splash teaser shows clearly now that the ice is melting. At the center you can see chunks of ice falling off and a lot of vapor -- typical of ice being melted down from intense heat. On the lower left of the center you can now see a new rune inside a circle. This is the Akilae Tribe symbol in Starcraft 2. Each of the runes represent one of Blizzard games: The first rune was indeed from Frostmourne representing World of Warcraft. The second rune was the Hel Rune from Diablo II. Now the third rune represents the Protoss Tribe from Starcraft II. (Thanks, Lavarinth) A little birdie from inside -- and I know the source somewhat -- told me today something about Blackthorne. Remember a few months ago when I reported Blackthorne trademark had been updated? Seems there might be two game announcements after all -- simple speculation. A GAME ANNOUNCEMENT has been Confirmed! Rob Pardo told GameIndustry.biz at the GDC the following: "So you want me to announce the game before our announcement?" he said. "No offense, but I think there's like 300 people here, and I'll be ripped apart by 8000 people there [at the Invitational] if I pre-announce it - but it's going to be really exciting. I think everybody here will be really excited about the announcement."
D3 announcement along with playable versions of the new WoW expansion and SCII? Or a new game about a walrus. Place your bets.
I know this: If this isn't a prep for d3 then Blizzard is right up there with microsoft on the lamescale of lame.
