I guess I care less about GW2. I love GW and will buy GW2 but for some reason I am itching to know as much as I can about D3. October 10-11 http://www.blizzard.com/blizzcon/
A couple of interviews from Jay Wilson at Leipzig: http://pc.gamespy.com/pc/diablo-iii/901260p1.html http://pc.ign.com/articles/900/900777p1.html The 2nd one is better. Sounds like Blizzcon will release another class. I was hoping they would give us something at Leipzeg or PAX.
2 German Sites with interviews translated: http://diablo3.ingame.de/szene/interviews/interview_jaywilson/index_engl.php and http://translate.google.com/transla...vention_2008_4.php&sl=de&tl=en&hl=en&ie=UTF-8 And this: http://www.boomtown.net/en_uk/articles/art.view.php?id=16571 Some things to take from this. Deaths will most likely not result in loss of experience, possibly gold. Health orbs scale and probably heal around 15% of total health. Each person sees their own drops. They might bring items from D2 to D3 (SoJ for example). Also it other news it seems the Blizzard forums were attacked. So person (AN-HERO) probably used a bot to post a over 100 threads. Most of them say stuff like PKing must stay. http://www.battle.net/forums/board.aspx?fn=d3-general&pageno=1
Hm? The Blizzard forums are attacked on a very regular basis. I think the biggest I saw was 2500-odd pages? At any rate, there was also something interesting about PvP in general but more explained here: http://au.pc.gamespy.com/pc/diablo-iii/901260p3.html Last question/answer indicates that Diablo 3 is going the way of separate game modes for PvP as opposed to a hostile system. Not really surprising but I think it's the first time they've indicated how they're doing that.
Yea I had read that one but didn't think it was worth posting. I am with MMOs the way they are now it shouldn't be a surprise they are working on changing that. It used to annoy me to no end when people would go hostile and want me to fight. I'd usually just leave the game.
http://www.blizzard.com/blizzcast/archive/episode5.xml One thing I found particularly interesting: That's pretty much the biggest pain in the ass I had to face in Diablo 2 gone...
What's the date on the interview? Is that a newer post about an older event or was that out there I and I had never read it?
I get the impression most of it was recorded a while ago, but it was released on the 27th of August. And yeah, some of the information I believe is new.
Bashiok on Pet controls: Nothing you probably didn't know from the video but I think they are at least thinking about making it better than a D2 MM. It's listed as a possibility. We'll have to see how it pans out. Source:http://www.battle.net/forums/thread.aspx?fn=d3-general&t=352375&s=blizzard&tmp=1#blizzard
Now there is a timeline of events up at the official site. http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/world/timeline.xml There are also new screen shots(4) and artwork(4). http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/media/screenshots.xml#37 http://www.blizzard.com/diablo3/media/artwork.xml#undefined Interview with Storyline guy, Leonard Boyarsky. I found this interesting: Source: http://www.gamebanshee.com/interviews/diabloiii1.php
"Bashiok confirmed the piece of artwork shown in the latest media update is indeed Skovos Isle, but it won't be a place we will visit in Diablo 3. From the looks of it, probably the expansion? Skovos is the homeland of the Amazon class in Diablo II. As we know, the only returning playable class is the Barbarian. However, Jay Wilson recently suggested some classes could return in the Diablo 3 expansion pack. Source: battle.net" "Diablo 3 Outdoors are not Random Generated A new tidbit about Diablo 3, that at least I hadn't heard before ... Diablo 3 outdoors (exteriors) are not random generated. Only dungeons are. That sounds great to an extent since everyone could memorize and know exactly where you are heading in the world of Sanctuary. Especially when you are with other friends and set a place to rendezvous at. Blizzard wants us to get acquainted with the different lands of Sanctuary. Among the interview discussion came up that monster encounters are random generated such as Rare and Champions popping up here and there (or mini-bosses as Jay puts it). Jay wants the outdoor world to be static in contrast with the random generated outdoors in Diablo II. This helps creating a better and unique look, adding objects, doodads, etc. that could be nigh impossible to place in a random generated landscape. More importantly, making a static world outdoor helps greatly the adventure system, and trigger-driven encounters. Thus far, the interview didn't shed much about Battle.net. Jay said he didn't want to steal that thunder, which definetely means Battle.net 2.0 details will be unveiled at BlizzCon 2008 on October 10th. Diablo 3 in comparison with the other two franchises is the only game that could possibly be translated to Consoles, but currently Blizzard doesn't have the manpower to focus on console porting Diablo 3. Hopefully some time in the future it could make it, but as of now it's just not happening. Crispy Gamer has a four-pages interview with Jay Wilson discussing the art style, random generation, Console port, and more. "
Bashiok on D3 Chests: Source Health/Mana Leech might not come back: And D3 might be playable at BlizzCon. Source D3 > SC2 Source: http://www.battleforums.com/newscomments.php?id=28 "Bashiok made a post on the B.net forums with an interesting tidbit of info about the Skeletal Shieldbearer monsters in Diablo III. Unfortunately, the thread he made that post in was very troll-infested, and has since been deleted. Fortunately, some of our forum regulars spotted it and copied out the useful part." Source
Source I'll update this on Thursday with what we learn. Oh and the SC2 team has not changed size. It was a made up rumor. Source
