If I play D3 it will be very casually. But, with REAL MMO's such as GW2, TERA, and PS2 I think it will be put on the backburner.
D3 is going to have a hardcore following. The D2 dungeon-crawler crowd does in fact crave more D2, and the auction house is for real-time cash. Whether it's substantial or not, the dollar value added to time spent playing is the way of the future.
