That's ok, because neither do they. So you're not really behind. I think most people were going to test how the EU servers work if there was a free trial and if it wasn't too bad then they would make the leap. But now since they created preorders when they said they wouldn't, with no more free trial for everyone before they buy it like they said. I would have to highly recommend that no one gives their money to them untill after the game comes out.
Yeah, seems like they pushed it to feb 25th... And about the NA release this is all I found about it. Aventurine: We will start with a digital download first and we’ll include a physical distribution, and client localization will follow. Our publisher came into the game fairly late and there hasn’t been much time to cooperate and organize this properly, so we’re moving forward with what can be handled right. Furthermore we’re seeing a lot of interest in the game and staging our release may be necessary, meaning we couldn’t handle a very large number of players right away, should this become an issue. Our first release is the European release. The North American release will follow as soon as possible but not until a few months later. We’re allowing players from N. America to participate in the European release due to this fact. Of course we’ll make some allowances for these players if they would like to move to the US server when it launches.
what im hoping is that we can play on the euro server (i pinged about 105 to frankfurt germany from NY) and when the US stuff gets settled we get a char transfer
I don't know about the char transfer but you definitely can start on EU release if you're from US. They did mention this on the interview i pasted in the earlier post. "Our first release is the European release. The North American release will follow as soon as possible but not until a few months later. We’re allowing players from N. America to participate in the European release due to this fact. Of course we’ll make some allowances for these players if they would like to move to the US server when it launches."
I wouldn't preorder just for the fact that no one knows how this game actually looks. There's a good chance you might get ripped off.
good and bad. bad at the sense that they are pushing back the release...again. But, good in the sense that we will still know whether the game is true or not come the 22nd and even get to free trial it which should be nice. I have highlighted the important parts for ease of use.
Did you miss the part where they mention it's a "selective" free-trial, meaning not everyone gets on it ? So I wouldn't call it anyones "open beta"
Actually, this looks like decent organisation. They don't have the server capacity for an open beta, so they are restricting it. Their mistake here is that there was more interest in Darkfall than they expected. Or would you of preferred an open beta where everyone is complaining about server lag ? I'd expect the release delay to of been caused by one of three things: 1 - A bug that isn't being fixed as easily as they expected. 2 - A bug that only just showed up. 3 - They know their servers will be overloaded on launch day, so they are setting up more. For the first two, would you prefer a delayed or a buggy launch ? For the third, would you of preferred a delayed launch or paying for a game you can't play because the servers are overloaded ?
The funny thing is they can say that they are allowing people in on the 22nd and not really do it because there's an NDA and no one would ever know.
This game could be hello kitty online 2 and I wouldn't care, wait until you play the game until you judge. No amount of hype or devs shoving carefully worded statements down your throat to spew back out again onto everyone around you will change how good or bad the game in reality is. Wow, that was harsh even for me =D
open beta doesnt mean everyone gets in (see: WAR) Also, open beta's generally do not have NDA. If you don't hear anything after the 24th then the open beta trial thing probably was a fake.
Yeah, I'm not really concerned anyway since I won't have time to play anything much for a month or so anyway. Once I get the time I guess I shall survey the options.
I'm not going to pre-order this. For one, pre-orders are always poorly co-ordinated in New Zealand period. I also want as much time as I can get to evaluate whether it's going to be any good. And for the first few months the pings here are going to be fucking dreadful with the servers based in Europe. That's another reason why there's no point in me getting in early. Anyway, hearing that the release date got pushed back is a relief. It was sounding like Jan 22 was going to be a disaster.
