You should be more careful what you say in your posts. Your lucky Im so easy going or I might take serious offense at your massive flaming.

Well Im sorry my memory failed me and I didnt feel like going through the trouble to look at exactly how much ram it had. 512 is still a limit for putting really high resolution textures into a game though and it cant even use a full 512 since it is shared between the other stuff too.

Ya I dont know most because I dont actually freak out about every game I play and check to see how many resources it uses on my system. I know that very few games even use up a GB of vram , but this would probably be higher amounts if things like the XBox 360 didnt hold back graphics progression so much.

No I dont think every game uses all the video memory my card has. I never said I did so stop putting words into my mouth and saying Im wrong.

No game uses up 2GB of vram yet, the only game I know of that comes anywhere close is GTA IV. And I think I saw somewhere that it got up to 1.4GB of vram on someone computer, and some review sites have shown it using 1.2GB of vram in screenshots.

Also, I never mentioned anything about TERA and never once said that TERA is a graphics intensive game. If I remember right, you were the one freaking out about system requirements for TERA a while back.

I know video memory is directly related to textures, resolution, anisotropic filtering, and antialiasing.

Actually I do know that optimizing for a single specific architecture raises performance considerably. It is what allows the consoles to play games with so little resources compared to a PC. Again, your putting words into my mouth.

While it isnt true in some ways, it is true in others. Since the capabilities of the XBox 360 is so old (high-res textures, physics calculations, brute processing power, lots of programmable shaders). And since the xbox does not have the ability to push the limits, game engines are not pushing the limits and game developers are not pushing the limits.

Well I said my thoughts on the issue, so Im not going to argue about it any more. You can like my opinion or not, that is up to you and your opinion on how things work.

I really have never ever cared about graphics. IT just doesn't bother me.

Core game play and good story has been my top reasons to by a game. I can over look the graphics as long as I can tell what I am doing and where I am going.

Most of us started on atari/coleco vision/nes/snes...... I would imagine? I still love the games for some of those systems. Graphics is a bonus but not a huge factor.

I buy games based on their graphics many times. Its the only reason I buy Crysis or FarCry for that matter.

I think when developers spend more time with a console, then they would be better able to use the hardware to its fullest. For example, games like Uncharted 2 and MGS4 pretty much max out the capabilities of the PS3. Now take a game that was probably developed for the PC in mind, like Fallout 3, and ported over to consoles - buggy and not quite as good as the PC version. In these cases, I would prefer playing the PC version, unless it was dumbed down because of the console versions, then I wouldn't play it at all (eg. every FPS on consoles).

Of course good graphics isn't everything, it's the presentation of the game that really matters to me (which is why I wouldn't even play a game like Crysis or Farcry for free - sorry, the environments don't appeal to me enough to actually like the graphics not to mention the gameplay). While Killzone 3 does look good, nothing I've seen from the gameplay videos really makes me go "wow, I want to buy that game on release day." I did download the demo, but I have probably zero interest in actually installing it and playing. But take a really great playing game and pair it with great graphics, sound, and a decent plot, and you'll have a masterpiece. I consider Uncharted 2 to be a masterpiece (but while the story is pretty good, it's not my favorite genre) that's just fun to play.

I considered this interpretation, since most others in the thread took it this way, but because FriendlyFire obviously went to a great deal of care to craft his post, when if he were intending the "console-exclusive" meaning it wouldn't have taken much effort to get across that meaning, I couldn't come to the same conclusion.
