what i find kinda funny is MJ keeps saying this is not and will not be DAOC 2 but then they are bringing the same damage types for the different factions. Slight name changes to the factions, however Alb's were centered around Arthur, Hibs around Celtic, and well Vikings = Viking
Now for support we have Minstrel still Mins Alb or Arth, Skald still Viking, Dark Fool is the only new one. Same specs for some of the other classes Heavy Fighters... Black Guard = Alb Armsman, Mjon = Thane, Fianna = Hero

I know he is keeps saying it is not the same game so he doesn't get caught up in a lawsuit with EA, but in all reality we are looking a DAOC 2 just with no / or different PvE. (The depths haven't been discussed in super detail other than during the KS.

He lost his baby when EA bought it out. I think he is really looking back and going. Damn I could have made so much money, look what people played Elder scrolls online for. Look at what they did here, he knows he can fill one hell of a niche market. If he makes it cheap, and comes out out making money in a couple of years. He will label it an all around good job.

Honestly, If it gives me any where near close to the same expedience as DAOC did. I will be so excited that I couldn't control myself.

I love me some RvR even in the meh forms that I experienced in WAR and GW2 (I would argue that Chip Wars aren't RvR but still amazing large pvp). Very much looking forward to Camelot Unchained and I really hope that we have enough Xen to field a guild within it even if it is a smaller niche group. Pretty much been waiting for a good western pvp game since...

Forever. My biggest fear is that it will turn out like Planetside 2, Guild Wars 2, and tons of the other sequels that have come out in the past while. They will launch with good engines (or decent enough) and wonderful sound/effects but be completely shit from the gameplay/strategy perspective.

I still have nightmares about SOE did to Planetside 2.

No game has been able to get my adrenaline pumping like DAOC RvR, I think the long wait times and running around the frontiers helped build that up. I still think fondly back to stealther battles out at the milegates or running relics...

Warhammer Online was way before my time in Xen (a few years at least). I played Order on one of the many launched servers for at least a couple months before the game was revealed to be a massive shame at the highest tiers (regular server crashes, terrible balance issues, mass exodus of guild members).

I have a bunch of silly pictures of all the bugs and issues in that game. Like this amusing one; model glitches.

I think this one was a beta weekend event or something in the Dark Elf zone. Took forever to do any questing...

Honestly I really loved Warhammer Online (the setting, the ideas, some of the dungeon content was pretty good) but it just fell apart in the one place that mattered which was RvR. There is just no way to make a proper game to work without having more than 2 factions. Otherwise one side gets the upper hand and there is nothing you can do (even underdog bonuses) without making it silly for either side. If you were on an order server, you could basically sack the capital every couple weeks without issue and vice versa. It was a system without any checks and balances, making things that should have been large accomplishments laughable because they occurred so often.

Played a little bit of DAoC when I was younger but the vast majority of my PvP experience is within WoE in Ragnarok Online (which were amazing) and Chip Wars. Honestly we haven't had a good MMO pvp game in years now, I was so excited for Archeage but refused to play it after I saw how Trion was handling the beta. MMOs in general have pretty much dried up after people realized they are incredibly hard to do right.

Nice! Let me see if I can find my old art book. I can scan and load up some things that you may recognize in the art book they sent out to people who bought the package.

As so I was an Order Warpriest on one side, and DE tank. Cant remember the name on the Chaos. The overall game was a very amazing idea, and concept.

Plus they had the type of class I loved to play. Support front liner.

    Ahhhh I miss those days.

Funny enough, I have the art book as well from the Collector's Edition. It was an art book and comic book if memory serves. Very cool hard covers, one of my favorite things about the game. Yeah, I really miss the class selection from WAR and other old school games. The WoW/Wildstar/and many other games never seemed to scratch the itch of having an option for almost every distance and gaming type. Really looking forward to Camelot Unchained classes. Speaking of which; now that all of the classes have been announced, how are people feeling about each faction?

Personally I am loving the look and style of TDD which suits me the most for the classes I am interested in (Spirit Mage, Scouts, Healers, Shapeshifters). The Morrigan and Black Rider concept art looks fantastic. The play style of their healer also seems very interesting.

I also wouldn't mind playing Arthurians as I enjoy some of their concepts like Alchemist and Specter. Least favorite is Vikings, but I still enjoy their Skald, Loki, and Arisen...

Really like Scout classes. I look forward to play a role like that in RvR whereas most of my experience scouting is from EvE Online which I really enjoyed.

    Totally,

No game has ever truly gave me the felt of my Bard, and well HAHA my bard. From EQ1 and DAOC. I know i know...

Its not my style of tanking.. but thats always been the real me. A support.. that dances and cheers the team and motivates.

Now I do that with blood... red red blood.. Kappa

Alpha is true alpha. This isn't like a blizzard beta or anything where its goal is to market to the public. The last one I played in barely had basic vegetation working or skill system. It is very rough around the edges but that is an honest result of this being a beta. I would check back mid-way through the year for a more honest opinion (2016), frankly at this point crowfall was further ahead of CU.

That is the thing about making your own engine for these kinds of things. It is much harder in the forefront of things but the payoff is huge if you can do it right. Mark my words, Crowfall will be out much sooner in a better state but CU will have the long term advantage of a custom engine. On top of that....I think the overall goal of CU is simple. RvRvR...plain and system. DAOC 2.0 even if people don't admit it. Whereas Crowfall has alot of work to do on top of trying to invent a new system.

In the end, it is far too early for both of these games to be judge. But we still have people in the group donating/wasting god knows how many hundreds of dollars on Star Citizen so maybe we shouldn't pay any heed to this kinds of things. The current state of PvP mmos these days sickens me. Trion's mismanagement of Archeage and Planetside gravitation towards being a dumbed down Battlefront MMO. Blech. Disappointed. Is it going to change? I dunno know. All we can do is hope and pray.

I would pay serious money for a cleaned up reskinned pre-toa daoc 2.

I don't know if people have patience to wander the frontier and sit on the portal pad anymore in mmos but those were some of the best days of my gaming career.

Just find it hard to trust MJ again after warhammer. A guy I played skyforge with knows the devs and said he has a good team. so lets hope

Is this still a thing?! I just realized how much money I spent on backing this game, and I'm need to get some value out of it haha

Its a thing, they are just super far behind cause of them making their own engine.
