Like it or not, Japanese shit works better and longer. If that's overcompensating, then hooray for short Japanese penises.
I think that is kind of dated thinking, Harley produces some quality products, the stigma comes from people always taking their Harleys apart to customize thus looking like they are never running or broken down
Innovation and reliability. American auto companies have been known for making the same stuff, over and over, with the same problems, without fixing them. That is part of their character (like it, love it, hate it.) The same can be said for Japanese auto companies. It seems to me, there are fewer lulls in the Japanese innovation cycles, so they seem a step ahead. When compared side-by-side, no one is going to drive a crap bike, just because of its label.
Like the toyota gas pedal sticking problem ? yah quality and shitty NiCad batteries that will destroy the enviroment with no answers from Toyota on how to recycle them? yeah innovative lol Seriously though, Crap and American mechanics is dating thinking Not one single company outside of Ford/GMC/Dodge makes a good truck, tundra stinks, tocoma is way over priceds , I know ive owned a tacoma and now a Sierra and the Sierra is superior in everyway
Round here it's pretty much the Hilux or nothing, but everything gets different names here because the steering wheel is on the other side. Ford utes sell to the religious supporters - good engines but everything else falls apart. GMC calls their stuff Holden here, and unless you're a V8 lover it's not worth touching. Dodge don't sell here at all. Toyota has an effective monopoly over work vehicles, and for commuters it's been Toyota for years but Volkswagen has taken the lead now. Subaru, Nissan and Honda lead the petrol-head market. Mitsubishi had their name tainted by a string of recalls about 10 years ago but are still popular for some reason. Locally, the most reliable brands turn out to be Toyota, Hyundai, Volkswagen and BMW (but if something does break on a BMW it's expensive to fix).
Now you mention it, I have seen Chryslers around, rarely. So, they "sell", as in you can get them, but they don't "sell" in the other meaning, because hardly anyone buys them here.
Dodge trucks and the Honda Civic prove my point pretty well. One is now known as Ram trucks and the other is being beat by Hyundia and Kia. People buy "good" products, if a company offers crap products they either change or go under. My point is, like what you like, don't like it because where it was made or the emblem on the front/back/side. Also "seems" is a word I use when I express my opinion.
Comparing a Tacoma to a Sierra is like comparing a Shadow to a Goldwing, not really the same animal. Now we are back on topic.
I'm not one for brand or bike style prejudice. They're all nice in their own way and it really comes down to fit and purpose in the end anyway, imho...so there isn't really any point in saying "better" or whatever. There haven't been a whole lot of just bogus bikes since the 1970s...unless you're riding an Ural, but if you are you probably keep a roll of duct tape in your pocket and are proud of it. I've owned/ridden extensively from friends: 1979 Suzuki GS 750 1982 Kawasaki GPZ 750 1982 Yamaha Virago VX920 1984 Yamaha XJ 750 1991 Yamaha FZR 1000 1997 Honda Rebel CMX250 1997 Suzuki GSXR 750 2001 Kawasaki ZZR 250 2001 Honda CBR1100XX Super Blackbird 2003 Suzuki Hayabusa GSX1300R 2005 Kawasaki ZX-12R <--- My current bike 2007 Honda Shadow VT600 2009 Harley Electra Glide 2010 Buell Lightning XB12S I really want to ride: Ducati Diavel Triumph Sprint ST Triumph Speed Triple Harley Fat Boy Kawasaki ZX-14R BMW K1300S Triumph Rocket III Kawasaki Z1000 What do you guys ride?
I had a 1999 Kawasaki ZX6R. Realistically, I want my Uncles Vrod that he laid down and may never ride again. In my dreams, I want the Ducati Street Fighter S.
bike riders are some of the nicest people.. my future brother in laws bike broke down here in New Zealand..a ducati. he belongs to a Ducati forum group that is based in the usa. On hearing his troubles..they took up a collection. Long story short. He gets a brand new engine and a mechanic flying into NZ to install it.
Yeah, that bike is REALLY nice! I've never driven one, but I've sat on a few at the Ducati dealership and at some shows. They're really cool! The Buell Lightning XB12S is actually really similar to the Street Fighter and that bike is f*cking fantastic. I wish Eric Buell could make more bikes... Every time I meet new riders they're looking at Kawasaki 250's or Sportsters or Shadows. I'm like, go try the Ducati Monster, it's a lower cc, feels as light as a bicycle, it's low and still has a ton of power. Yes
