I still play it every now and then, but only about 1 hour a week or so. It has lost a bit of it's charm to me, even though I haven't finished GWEN yet.

The Euro division it is where I am in.

Hmm well lets hope GW2 brings back the old community :)! Is there a way to sign up for BETA testing? They will proberly do the thing they did last time and let guilds join and play in the BETA instead of individuals.

I lost my GW pins from the collecters addittions in the divorce grrrr. When I first logged back in about 6 months ago I had been left all alone in my XoO guild lol but I never botherd rejoining since I don`t play that often. I have been playing WoW waiting on D3 =p

I stopped playing ages and ages ago just before NF came out. But i was one of the founding members of the original GW Division and cheering from the sidelines when we got into the quarters of the first GW championship.

They made it too complex and gear-y imo, it was simple but diverse up till factions, then everything got a bit too specific and diversity was lost.

Still good to have a bash now and agan though, i never did finish the story on factions or NF.

Hm? They introduced components that could be described as grind, but gear only became more easy to come by as time passed.

I don't see how you can say "it's too gear-y and diversity was lost" when you can roll up a pvp character with max gear and the max weapons with any max mod you want on it for free any time you want, all that stuff was super easy to unlock, or if you're too lazy/don't pvp enough you can pay to unlock it :p

As for diversity, the more expansions that came out, the more skills were added to the game, and the more builds were made up... I don't get your argument at all. They also specifically go in and rebalance the game regularly to freshen things up for the pvpers - adjusting skills to make old ones more appealing, or nerfing ones that are overused. The balanced aspect is the best thing about this game - you could always bring a balanced group into a GvG and do alright, you weren't forced to conform to the flavor of the month, and if you wanted to, you could make up your own flavor ^.^

But hey, what do I know? I GvG'd regularly for I don't even remember how long, from a while after NF released until last June? >.> I can only hope that the pvp in GW2 brings back a slice of the awesome. I miss the skill and team coordination aspect, it's not really the same in PvE.

Yeah. In PvE you get more mileage out of exploitative builds than getting your team to play just so (even assuming you find some guys that can do it).

Well, that's often been true of some kinds of PvP too, I suppose.

So yeah, roll on GW2. Just a pity that waiting for it seems to require about as much patience as waiting for a viable substitute for oil, but I guess that's life.

At the time I stopped playing the high end PvE gear that you had to craft from items in the underworld(?) was becoming more of a requirement for that extra edge. The 'updates' to the skills just seemed to take all the fun out of combining skills because there was less difference between builds and after each skill update more and more of the combinations just plain didn't work as well as others.

I preferred it when you had a significant edge if your build trumped the other and likewise you were in trouble if someone had a build that trumped your own. What they seemed to do is balance things TOO much so that build make-up seemed bland and uninteresting.

I can't comment on GvG after NF but before it i was just bored.

    Eh?

To this day, fissure armour remains a waste of time. There never was any 'extra edge' to be gained from PvE equipment.

Personally I'm retroactively pissed off that I missed the height of GW PvP in favour of a less popular game. On looking at it now it could have been quite a blast.

There was NEVER any statistical advantage to Fissure armor--it just had a different skin than the armor you could buy for cheap at Droknar's. :p The only thing FoW armor says about you is that you had a lot of in-game cash (I'm sure it's still the most expensive armor in the game) or you spent hours and hours PvE farming FoW for shards. ;) Strictly status-symbol gear!

Most of GW was that way--max stat gear was very cheap and easy to obtain overall. The pricey stuff was strictly for appearance...sort of like buying different outfits for your Barbie doll. LOL

I think Chaos Gloves give it a run for its money, but they're only one part.
