liek befor not everyone comps have a problem with gameguard tho there ways around it. also GW is not like Open world MMOs tho and EvE tho had problems at the start but fixed it also dont think u can bot in EVE

 

- open world? [ Bascially 2 main faction world angels and devil ( every 2 hours with random portal location that link it up ) + Abyss ( the flight+PvPvE zone ) ]


- discuss the pvp [ i must say it's very unbalance below lvl 43 for all classes for solo 1 v 1 , as for large scale 200 vs 200 is pretty balance up ]


- bindstone/ or tombstone? - do you need to run and pick up your gear? corpse? [ there's a bindstone where you can purchase from npc that you can place on ground but not in the mid air if you can find a piece of land in the mid air u can place it there thou , the purchable bindstone quite costly in KR version and it only allow 6 users to use that's 1 full party ]


- how hardcore is it? [ Well different players have different point of view on defining : hardcore , i will just point out some carebears respond that they QQ the most that's during PvE, upon death you lose some amount of experience but you can buy back 3/4 of those xp with game money 1/4 is gone forever when u got dead by monster, is like World of Warcraft (Death repair cost) + Lineage 2 (Death xp loss but no delevel) , PvP is about Abyss point loss you can't buy back the points u loss , example a grade 6 kill you and you a grade 4 you have a great loss of abyss experience points , can't buy back 1/4 of the total loss like PvE mode , you use abyss experience point for abyss gears , accessory , pots ]


- how many safe zones? full loot? spawn camping/corpse camping? FFA/Realm? [ there's only 1 safe zone each of both faction is the main city , everywhere is pvp zone anywhere anytime you might get pked even inside town outside main city. There's 2 hour random portal poping that linked the both world so angels or devil can go thru it in a raid party or solo or 1 full party , of course u can try camping the angel exit portal alone if you like getting zerged gangbanged , upon death you get a ghost mode screen for 30mins wait time before it auto spawn back to your last save location. or alternaively you can buy ress stone with abyss point, just place some in inventory anyone can auto self ress using these stones , stones cannot be stack waste lots of inventory spacing and expensive too ]


- US Release date? US Beta? Guild Beta? [ i heard is around march not sure , am still enjoying my korean aion online atm ]

 

Yes. Don't play a game where the Devs are stupid enough to use it is a way around the problems it causes.

It still has the same incentives for hacking it, and it's still a client/server game.

When I tried WoW, it didn't have any guard program. Does it have a hacker problem ?
Actually, how many MMOs can you name that have a hacker problem ?
Which of them use guard programs ?

Oh, Eve is much easier to bot than other MMOs because the game already takes care of a lot of the finer details for you. Especially if they are mining, where you can press a few buttons and then go AFK for a few minutes as your cargo hold fills up.

 

Just reply " You will not play aion online *full stop* " that's all you need to do now and move on.

 

erm they arnt really angel of daemons...... read the lore and your under stand how they became who they are. yes NcSoft tried to stay away frmt he whole angel and daemons battling it out but no race is good or evil only the dragon race is since they wanted to kill everything and become gods like AION

 

Except that GameGuard should be easily removable. So if I can get enough people agreeing with me that it gets removed, I'll be willing to play Aion.

 

ermm that matters ? heh.. Every gamer in Korean Aion Online is refering to Angels vs Devils factions. If you disagree then it's too bad cuz it's the fact how Korean aion community is using these 2 terms. Live with it.

I still want to play Aion. The problem is that GameGuard is not something that I want on my computer as it is far too invasive, causes problems with other important programs, and doesn't have anything to justify its downsides.

 

There's 2 options for you in this case.

1. Keep up the good work QQing about GameGuard issue "Praying it will be removed in your dreams" and move on to other games.

2. Live with it + wait till international version release and play it . Reserved all your "negative" comments , post it all after you actually play in an official release , open beta doesn't count.

 

Why would I install something on my computer when it would increase the risk of my computer becoming infected with something because it decides it doesn't like my firewall and/or anti-virus ?
What about it changing enough that no longer fits the definition in my anti-virus programs white list ?

Especially when the stated reason for it being there doesn't match with its results in other games. For example, I have a friend who used to play Maple Story which had a major hacker problem despite GameGuard. When GameGuard was updated, it only took a few days for the hacks to return to what they were before.

And why do you think that GameGuard is in beta when it already is bundled with other games ?
The only difference there would be between the GameGuard for Aion and it on other games is the programs stored in its 'known good' and 'known bad' lists. Pity the problems come from its attempts to detect hacks before they get listed.

If the international version comes without GameGuard I will play Aion, but I doubt it since it would require a major change to the code to protect it from what the devs think GameGuard is protecting them from.

What would it take for you to install a game if you knew the game came bundled with spyware ?
Where do you draw the line between spyware and programs like GameGuard ?
For me the line comes at programs who don't try to control the programs I'm running on my computer.

Even if it doesn't cause problems, it is still installing a rootkit onto your computer. That is my issue with it. Remember when Sony put out a rootkit on their CDs a few years back ?
It's the same principle here, including people who install it without knowing about it.

I've yet to see anything saying that GameGuard isn't a rootkit. So how would you propose doing what GameGuard is attempting to do without installing a rootkit ?

You have told me to wait until I try Aion before commenting, despite my comments being on a piece of software that is known to cause problems with anti-virus and firewall software.

Then you say that open beta doesn't count. Meaning I have to pay for the GameGuard just to find out if it will work on my computer.

No attempt to tell me how GameGuard isn't a rootkit.
No attempt at telling me why installing a rootkit is a good idea.
No attempt to answer any of my points beyond "everything works fine for everyone.", which is shown to be wrong with a quick google search.
No attempt as justifying why GameGuard is even included in the first place.

As it stands, I'm not sure you even understand what I'm complaining about.

1st of all dont start shit, 2nd its not me its NcSoft that said THEM SELFS they arnt angel nor demons they wanted to stay away frm that hell vs heaven crap, but ppl seem to think they are angels and demons which in the lore they arnt they are both frm the same race but then ppl started to pick sides and the reason they look like they do is bc where they lived for sooo long

 

hmm this odd last i looked gamguard doesnt run unless your running the game. so how your going to get infected by playing a game??? unless your on the web if so close the game down.

really i know alot of ppl with the best anti virus and firewalls out there and never had a prob with game guard. it just doesnt stop botts all that well or hacking.

not saying what ever YOU are using might have a prob with game guard. they arnt going to drop something like that EASY L2 had many ppl that comnplain about game guard and Look they still have it
