Habs might stand a chance against the Penguins yet. Not a sure thing, but we know they can at least beat them sometimes. Round 2 will be good, I can see that much!
I noticed this thread got quiet since My Hawks are in the Conference Finals. All or most of Senrai's picks have lost so far. please tell me you're picking the Sharks over the Hawks
I think that they're quiet because the Habs beat out the #1 seed and the reigning champs, and soon the Flyers or Bruins
I got to post on here. I am a huge hockey fan, my team is the Flames, as I was born and raised there, but live in B.C. now. Really dissapointed with how the canucks fans turned on their own team so quickly. Its been an issue for me for a while, the band wagon. Second, as much as I love to see the Habs win, I lived there for a few years, its also some what of a miracle. They have been out shot almost every game, and usually by quite a bit. A goalie has stood on his absolute head, and they have gotten a lot of breaks to get there. Its amazing. But they have not outplayed anyone yet. Facing either the bruins of flyers is going to be interesting, because they are both much tougher than either washington or pitt, and are going to be playing montreal really tight. I dont think its the matchup they want, but who knows the way Halak is playing anythings possible. I hope chicago makes it to the cup, it would be great to see an original 6 Cup final.
The Canucks tanked pretty badly while I was on holiday, didn't they? But yeah, the Canadiens ... just never stop surprising. They've got a pretty realistic chance of making the Stanley Cup final, and it'll be interesting to see how they go there. I suspect they'll be facing the Sharks, though it does seem you never can tell. The Canucks were supposed to have improved while the Blackhawks went nowhere at best in the last season... well yeah, that didn't amount to much.
ALL OF THEM LOST.... WTF... I must say, Vancouver totally tanked that series bad... if some one told me they would lose 3 straight at home to the Hawks before the series started, i would of told em they needed brain surgery. Guess i was the one in need of a heart transplant.... Fck this year i expected the 'Nucks to at least make it to the Conference final... havent been this depressed after a series since..... '94 Finals...... and thats pretty sad.... Just to keep this the way it should, i'm saying Hawks in 4!!!! hahaha JINX JINX JINX Areli God i wanna punch ButtFugly in the face.... that smirk just pisses me off.....
agreed. The habs decided to shit the bed bigtime in the second period, so I'm thinking the series may be done... but they seem to like coming from behind, so you never know...
It's safe to say, the habs are done. Flyers just got two of their best back in the action... there will be no more miracles.
You never know though. Nothing in this conference has been what was expected. Those players might be back and not what they were before since they haven't played in a while, and could actually be a hindrance. But... this conference is fucked as I said. 7th and 8th seed met in the finals, Philly coming back from 3-0 and winning, the 8th seed beat out both the first seed and the reigning champs... all I'm saying is don't count them out yet lol. If they play like they did in game 3 for the next few games, Philly is pretty much screwed, but Quebec is not known for doing logical things...
As a latecomer to this thread, I'm glad we have some Hockey fans in XoO. I'm a devout Penguins fan (from Pittsburgh) and was disappointed to see our boys go down to the Habs. Since I am a sworn enemy of any Western Conference team, I'll cheer for my second Pennsylvania team, the Flyers. I really like their "never quit" attitude this season and postseason. As someone mentioned before: now that Carter and Gagne are back, they will be hard to stop. With Timonen and Pronger holding the blue line, and running a very "Canadien-esque" trap in the neutral zone, it's tough to get much offense going; I don't care if you are Kane/Toews/Hossa. If you notice, the Hawks play a similar style to Pittsburgh, in that they have the 1 and 2F carry the puck into the offensive zone, and count on puck control and the cycle to produce. If the PHI/MTL series was any indication, the Flyers will respond well to this by loading the blue line and forcing a dump-in. Michael Leighton sure is impressive, but I don't know how long the beginner's luck can hold against the likes of an offensively potent team as the Blackhawks. Scoring first will be key in the Stanley Cup Final. If either team can get on the board first, they will be hard to beat. The Hawks press the issue by pouring on more offense and adding to the lead, while the Flyers have an uncanny ability to protect even the smallest of leads. I for one am happy to see this Final. A lot of folks predicted that Chicago would be here, but I don't believe anyone (save Barry Melrose) predicted the Flyers would make it out of the first round. Lets go boys; move your feet and I'll see you at center ice! One Love, Cal
I love how no one knew except Kane knew that the puck was in the back of the net. A little underwhelming if you ask me. Congrats to the Blackhawks, nice to see another young team win The Cup. 49 years is a long time to wait. One Love, Cal
I was routing for the hawks the entire playoffs and I am glad to see they won it... same kinda goal that won the Gold Medal that won the Cup is kinda weired I had no idea it went in from the angle of the camera but Kane was jumping around like a lunatic ... to bad it wasn't my boy byfuglien that got it that kid is a BEAST!!!
