Man, everyone's already upgraded or upgrading to the i7's. I'm waiting for those prices to drop. I upgraded some pieces at the end of last summer, things of notice: >> Intel Core 2 Duo E8400 Wolfdale 3.0GHz 6MB L2 Cache LGA 775 65W Dual-Core Processor >> EVGA 512-P3-N801-AR GeForce 8800 GT 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 >> CORSAIR 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 800 (PC2 6400) >> GIGABYTE GA-EP35C-DS3R LGA 775 Intel P35 ATX Dynamic Energy Saver Ultra Durable II Intel Motherboard The 8800 and mobo aren't even made anymore, well - been deactivated on Newegg. Heh. Going to wait until the end of this year, or possibly beginning of next to upgrade, just waiting on price to drop for the i7's, luckily the geforce 200 series are already dropping very fast in price.
They have been dragging their heels a bit, yes. I understand there's an i5 line-up coming out that might help a bit with that though. Doesn't sound like the i7s will be upgraded this year though - at least not from what I've heard so far. All you rich people... QQ I have a 15" laptop: 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo 4GB DDR2-667 NVidia 8600GT-M 256MB Windows 7 RC (Soon to be RTM once it is released on MSDN) Plus ~5TB storage in external drives.
not really that rich here mate, just know how to budget build a good computer and have plans for upgrades
13" Black & white? LOL! My first CPU had a tape deck, and cartridges 16K power house. Ran wire frame mazes with ease at 3 fps, multiplayer?LOL,not invented yet..just had to add that,Frogger PvP anyone?from then to now, gamers have come along way. did I mention Arma2 in this post?..sure did. next gen game-for all your rigs.
Oh yeah? Well my first computer was the size of a whole room and ran on punch cards! Not really, I'm not quite that old. But I do remembers the days of the big ole floppy disks for the original Apples.
My specs are utter shit so I won't even bother.. Let's just say I'm running on a /bad/ single core processor.. Oh well, dropping around 1.3k US before xmas to up my shit.
I had an Athlon 64 3200+ machine for 3 years I think, up until the end of June or so. Worse than that? $1300 should go a long way towards a new system these days though. Not many reasonable systems that won't buy.
