Hi guys, couldn't see anything conclusive on the site but are you planning to have en EU planetside 2 outfit? Myself and 5 others are looking for an outfit to join during beta and release. Thanks, Axios
Things like that are typically decided based on interest and whether we have the numbers to support that interest as well as the NA branch. So basically I think it is a bit early to tell honestly. Perhaps one of our PS2 organizers can help better answer your question.
There are EU XoO members interested in playing PS2, of which I am one. And for obvious reasons my personal preference is to play on an EU server. But as Kyoji points out, its about level of interest and if the PS2 branch officers decide its worth it. At the moment though its North America only with EU players expected to join an NA server.
With the amount of numbers required in PS I doubt having two seperate divisions would be anywhere a smart idea. There are plenty of EU players currently playing with NA.
We have no plans as of yet of creating an independent EU outfit, however, we have quite a large number of players in the EU and other distant timezones (myself included), and we do intend to fully support a EU element that would likely play at a time when NA players won't be around. I haven't sat down with rest of the team to work out the specifics of this, but it is going to be on the agenda for the next meeting. I encourage you to contact myself, Miir, or Dullard either here or on PSU forums if you would like to learn more about our EU plans and the clan as a whole. My hopes are that, with advances in server capabilities, it will be feasible for EU players to play on a NA server. I really don't want to split up the clan amongst two servers. We had EU players during PS1 that played with us on Emerald (East Coast) and had no trouble, however, this is an issue that cannot be fully resolved until beta.
Is there a thread with a collection of info on PS2 floating around the forums that I could catch up on? or is the info floating free in cyberspace? I may be interested in something of this nature. Shooter+MMO? seems like a good idea as I enjoy both.
Best way is to search youtube for "totalbiscuit planetside 2", he's been streaming allot of alpha and beta footage with commentary from himself and the devs. He must be shagging one of them with the level of access he's been given.
Would I be right in assuming that there will not be an EU only division unless the EU players can not play on the same servers as the NA players ? Meaning that, unless lag or regional restrictions cause problems, there will just be the single XoO PS2 division.
I would hope so, seeing as this is normally the questions that arise when debating on split division EU/NA for XoO (Aion, Tera, SWTOR, etc.) If the above problems (and any others) do not conflict or happen - then 1 Outfit for XoO I'd say. The more numbers we can rally, the better. Plus, will help drive community.
It has been confirmed that European players can play on north American servers. The the info comes out that they couldn't the community erupted. Soe worked with the server hosts and resolved the issue to allow it.
I would have to agree with Sokar on this one, I think that what XoO needs is to get rid of the EU/NA divisions and work together as 1. We've seen what happened to Aion (NA) and (EU). Now with Tera (NA) and (EU). The selection of a division CO will be handled a lot better now and the best candidate will be selected for that position. Lets get rid of the EU/NA separations and just keep it simple. Unfortunately for Tera (EU), they have frogster so, although they may be around, the halt in endgame content may claim some players. Had they played on an NA server instead, they wouldn't be running into this issue. I must be honest. That is my only criticizm for that division, other than that, the organization and leadership is solid so the game is successful. The issue with Aion (EU) was the same, game content was not very good at keeping updates, people lost interest because of the lack of players, whatever the case may be, and unfortunately that division no longer exists. I'm hoping to get more of the Aion EU players back with us to build 1 solid division but this may not be easy to do. Gosh that was long winded. (AS USUAL)
