I didn't want to derail the "Who has Ordered" thread with this discussion as that doesn't appear to be the goal of that thread, but doctorie asks a very good question that needs to be reexamined. I know that at one time or another XoO looked at the possibility of having a ESO division but it was determined there was not enough interest. However when I look at the ESO roster stickied at the top of this index I see 19 names of people who plan to try the game out. Additionally 3 months prior to launch we have 7 people, as of right now, who have already paid and pre-ordered the game. I'm willing to bet that this preorder number will grow as launch time draws nearer.

How much interest is needed for there to be a XoO division? Is it that no one has volunteered to step up and lead the division and the current leader's of other divisions are not interested in the game? Is it that there has to be a minimum magic number of people who plan to play at launch? What must be accomplished for a XoO division in ESO at launch?

I want there to be a XoO division for ESO and I am willing to do whatever legwork must be done to accomplish it. Please Help me in accomplishing this goal !!!

The most important thing is probably a dedicated and motivated CO with clear cut goals on how XoO will be one of the most competitive forces in the game. Not much point in keeping track of anything else until someone that fills those requirements shows up/steps up.

Before I joined XoO a tad over a year ago I was in a guild named "Onslaught" that was formed in dark age of camelot. I was in this guild for the last 6 years of it's gaming history and during that time it had the same GM and officers. That GM and those officers led myself and many others through nearly every raid in vanilla wow, tbc wow, and some of wotlk wow. After interest in wow begin to lag that guild moved onto warhammer online, rift and swtor. After swtor the GM and most of the officer's begin to lose interest in the craptastic mmo's that had been released over the last couple years and decided to take a break from mmo guild leading. We were never the top tier raiding guild and never the top tier pvp guild. We did however complete all the raids and got the same phat loots as the top tier guilds did and we did well enough in pvp in those other games that we were known and respected on our server's. It was not that guilds mission to be the best of the best but to ensure that everyone had fun and to get shit got done in the process.

I am telling you this because that same GM has decided to return to gaming and decided to give ESO a chance. I talked to him yesterday on the phone and he was telling me that he is undecided on whether he wants to start up Onslaught again or just join up with a new guild. I see a perfect opportunity here for someone with allot of experience in running a guild, leading in raids and in pvp groups to join up with us, in a game that he is very interested in.

If no one else has interest in leading this division I would like to call my old GM up and say "Hey this fantastic guild I have been in over the last year has some members who are wanting to start a division in ESO but there is no leadership interested in this specific game. Are you interested in joining up and talking with these people and seeing if leading a XoO division is the right move for you?"

I must say again that this GM is not the bloated ego type and dislikes elitist type attitudes but at the same time his guild, that I was a member of and officer in, did complete every raid that those same elitist types did, just at a slower more casual pace. Should I give this guy a call or is does someone have something else to offer?

Starting a division doesn't take that much tbh.

    1. You need a handful of players willing to play the same game together
    2. Someone to step up to lead those people(who at minimum is loosely accepted by the membership base)
    3. Ask Q to be able to place the Xen tag on it.

You can't start a division now... It's way to late to start recruiting people for RvR. For GW2 the 2 top alliances: Titan Alliance & Accession Alliance started recruiting for Wv3 roughly three years in advance before the release of GW2. Since TESO is focused around RvR, you can't be competitive in any other aspect of the game. You could, but it would just be silly and everyone would laugh at you. RvR games you have to start recruiting long before the game comes out, or you won't have enough people to shine... If we started a division today, we would only fail at release. I thought about requesting to run a TESO division already, but knowing which guilds are officially playing TESO; there's no way we could compete with them since their numbers are 300+. These guilds started recruiting people a couple years ago when TESO was mentioned for release... There is still time to recruit for Camelot Unchained though; if anyone wants to make a division.

So just cause we didnt start a division 3 years ago (was this even announced more than 2 years ago?) we have no chance of being good at the game or a successful division? I think that is a load of crap personally. We can have good players and have a good time even without a 300 member guild. Sure we may not be able to own entire fortresses and the Imperial City all by ourselves, but why cant we simply be an awesome PvP guild who has joined with a larger alliance to stay competitive in the RvR fortress holding scene?

Or you know...Xen could have a 10-25 man division that isn't a zerg guild and do just fine. There is LOTS of small scale guilds that did fine in DAoC, WAR, GW2 and more. More numbers doesn't mean you are more competitive in RvR, it just means you have the manpower to take large objectives without coordinating with the zerg or other guilds. It doesn't stop you from roaming, small objectives, and elite party play.

This is interesting, 'cause I haven't noticed any guild that could field such numbers that I'd consider a threat. I don't think The Enclave is even rolling into TESO, so who besides 4chan and the goons could be so large?

I'm not even going to argue with you kids anymore... Since you think you're so right, then put your money where your mouth is and start a division.

This thread isn't supposed to be about arguing. It's supposed to be about answering my question of how do we get a division going. Can we please try to stick to that, without the bickering.

The general consensus so far seem's to be that the following things must be accomplished before we can even be considered for another XoO Division:

    1) Proper leadership with support from those who intend to play and those who are already leaders.
    2) Leadership with a clear mission and rank structure that is approved by the majority of the games players.
    3) A stable base of reliable players, around 10.

Does anything else need to be added to this list?

Of the things currently on this list, what are those people's thoughts that actually intend to play at launch.

    1) Is there anyone who is interested in Leading this division? A CO, XO, and officer's? Is anyone interested in fulfilling any of those positions? Or should there even be the classic rank structure but instead something different like a council of 9 or some such thing?
My thoughts: I don't like to lead and am not good at it. I tend to have a short temper when dealing with stupid people and no governor on my mouth. Forums are my best means of communication tool because I can read what I am saying before I say it and make sure I am not being too harsh and alter it accordingly. I offer to help in any way that any leadership would need. I prefer the CO, XO, Officer structure just because I am prior military and it works for me, but I could go with a council type thing and still be happy.

    2) What should the mission be? Is the cobra kahn "best of the best around, nothings gonna keep us down" mentality what you all are looking for or a more casual approach? Should PvP or PvE be the primary goal or a good combination of both?
My thoughts: I don't give two hoots about who's the best so long as I am having fun and the enemy dies as frequently as I do. I like pvp and pve about the same. I enjoy pvp as much as pve. I dont have a favorite but I do want to do both, not just one.

    3) I believe we have a stable base already with 7 people who have already purchased and 19 signing up on the roster. Other's have mentioned needing 300+ players to fit in with the zerg guilds or you will just get steamrolled all the time. I will say that getting steamrolled by the zergs in other rvr games has been a serious turnoff, so that tactic does have merit. Obviously we would not be a zerg guild so is it worth creating a small gorilla warfare type guild to pick off the edges of the zerg, or just create alliances with the zergs on our sides?
My thoughts: I don't know what to say to this other than that I don't want to find another guild to join, and as long as I have a good group to kill npc and pc's with on a daily basis and I'm not constantly getting my ass kicked I will have fun.

I already answered the question. We can't because there isn't enough people or time to recruit and play on a competitive level.

Idk anyone that's free atm with the experience needed to run the division that wants to play TESO.

I don't understand who is approving the division. Is it majority of the people with interest in the given game, the current leadership, or both!

You can't be competitive with 10 people in large scale PvP such as RvR... If you think you can, you're delusional.

I thought we could only have a CO/XO structure. That's how its been since I can remember anyway.

Well since we're a competitive guild that means we have to cater to what the game is built for which is RvR. We just don't have the numbers to run a solid RvR group, or the time to recruit reliable people for one.

You know... When it comes to zerging people play the tactics which benefit them the most. GW2 Wv3 for example wasn't a very tactical game, and forced people to zerg. No one wanted to zerg because it was pretty boring and created huge lag problems for everyone, but the way the maps were designed we were forced to zerg... Guilds were actually trying to stay out of each others way while on the maps at times, and not zerging to bring stability to Wv3. This hardly worked though... As Wv3 was built around zerging rather than tactics. RvR in TESO is the complete opposite and you aren't going to be able to do as well as you could with smaller numbers like you could in GW2.

I thought about working a division into an alliance, as that would be the only way to succeed in RvR at this point being so far behind in recruitment. I tried reaching out to some of the major RvR guilds and they have formed alliances already. You might be able to find smaller guilds that are playing and make something of that, I just asked a lot of the larger guilds because I have friends in them.

If you're going to play an RvR game on a competitive level then you need to start recruiting and form an alliance months in advance at the least... Waiting 2 months before release just isn't enough time. The GW2 division didn't start recruiting until beta which was a few months before release, and they still didn't get enough people to have a proper division for Wv3... Which is funny because I was telling them to recruit long before beta came around, but no one wanted hear it!

You're always welcome to try if someone wants to run the division, but for future reference I would take my advice and start recruiting early rather than later. Especially for large scale PvP. Luckily I have friends to play with in one of the top RvR guilds that has 360+ pro players that have been playing since Ultima Online. Sadly I didn't think anyone here had any interest in TESO, or I would of said something awhile ago.

Either way, good luck and see ya on the battle field.

We start small and have an alliance with the larger guilds..we follow their lead but keep autonomy.

    We recruit in game.

We absorb players from other guilds that fold.

    We merge with guilds.

OFC we keep this up and we become a massive machine.

We started SWG with less than this..we grew to over 300 members within maybe 2 years just the way I described above.

we dont need to go into this and rule from the start...that is some kids pipe dream..start a guild an we will rule!!

We canstart slow..build on our success..learn from our mistakes...learn from other guilds in the alliance.

Get good at what we do.

Play with Honor..gain respect....glory will come

    one for all:all for one

and have fun doing it and make lots of new friends

I understand your line of thought gankfest. Your of the opinion that recruiting and division formation should have been done a long time ago so that the guild could enter the game ready to kick ass and take names with lots of players, anything less is a waste of our time. your point is well stated and understood.

I understand doctorie's line of thought as well. Start small (with what we got) and grow bigger over time through our actions, reputation and longevity of watching the noob guilds collapse like they always do.

Both methods are sound reasoning, however for those that will be playing the game, these are our current options: 1) Join another guild that has already done all the leg work for launching in the game with large numbers 2) Stay in this guild and start with small numbers and work our way up to a larger guild hopefully, 3) Play solo by ourselves pugging group stuff.

For me option 1 just plain sux. I make friends slowly and that just sounds like a craptastic way to start a new game. Option 2 is not ideal, getting steamrolled by zerg's in rvr, but it is more preferable than option 1. Option 3 is a no go, I will do option 1 before doing this option. Given the option's available I choose option 2...

From here on out I am hoping that posters in this thread will post things that will get us moving in the desired direction (a XoO division in ESO). It is obvious that we would be starting small, so if your not interested in that, then please do not post as it serves nothing more than to demoralize people.

We need a leader ! Should I call my old GM from my previous guild and see if he is interested since no one else has posted interest so far?

We roll with the larger guilds we should be able to avoid the zergs. As long as we have an equal server pop.

As for raids we will have to grow into it....group with other small guilds that need the same thing.

maybe some alliance people would join us at times in raids.

I look in ts3...lots of times there are less than 10 people playing in our games. I bet they having fun too.

We can have as much fun too and grow.

TESO is going to be a 3 - 6 month game. That is what majority of the competitive RvR guilds are saying anyway. The guild I'm currently playing with now only 20% of people actually want to play TESO. The other 80% are just playing to have something to play; people have been sitting around doing nothing for awhile since GW2. This is what I've seen in other competitive RvR guild forums as well... I feel exactly the same way about the game, and I'm only playing it to play with a few friends. If it wasn't for them I would just wait for AA, or something better to come along.

I miss the days where people bought a MMO and stuck with it for 1+ years, but that's not how it is these days... People have the bar raised so high that idk if a game could ever meet player expectations as a whole. I would agree with your statement if people were actually planning on sticking to TESO for awhile, but by the time the above mentioned would happen is about the time people will be quitting the game.

I blame World of Failcraft, fail developers, and kids....

We will be a very small group. Combined with what Gank said, I don't see a lot of point in making an official division and attempting to recruit as such. Any player count you think we have at the moment, you can divide that number by 2 for the month after launch. Nobody has expressed interest in leading the div anyway. Once I saw we had no community interest at the 'new games' meeting last month I just decided plan my first character and faction, join a Daggerfall guild, etc.

I'm down to make our small group one of my 5 guilds, since you can be in 5. If we all wanted to join another bigger AvA guild for this game together, that would be cool too. I think that is our best option personally. Merging with another group, together, prelaunch. Whatever faction you guys decide you want to focus on in regards to AvA, I'll definitely make a character there too and join the same campaign on him.

Personally I'm not looking to rush anything, so I won't be rushing max level and skill lines. I'm done with going hard at new MMOs as that is a big part of what makes them "3 month games." I'm likely to tinker in multiple alliances.

I would have spoken up had it not been on one of the 4-5 times I work on a weekend over the course of a year. I wish somebody with actual experience in the game had pointed out to the few people who spoke out that they had no clue what they were talking about on the game. Then this last weekend was the last real chance to bring it up at the meeting and the meeting was cancelled and made to be just for the leaders of other divisions...
