I recently bought myself a new headset. Problem is, audio is coming out the wrong speakers. I can't turn the headset around, because the mic only points forwards if it's on my right ear. I know that in the past I've been able to tick a checkbox and swap which audio comes out of each speaker. But I can't find that checkbox in window 7.
Are you sure you know which way is correct? Maybe you have been listening to it backwards all this time. That or the headset is defective and you need to take it back. Im pretty sure the checkbox for that sort of thing would be only on chipsets that support such an option with the drivers and control panel for your chipset. Not all of them have this options.
^ What he said Sounds like a defective headset. oops. Also, Im gonna throw my headphone knowledge out at you. There is no rule to support this, but I cant remember the last time I used a set of cans that did not have the cord on the left side. (If it doesn't split into each ear, that is.) Its just the norm. Now, Designers of headsets put the mic on the left ear- almost always- because thats the shortest distance to the cord. Its cheaper, and it tests better with focus groups because thats what everyone is used to. There are brands out there that break the rule- like plantronics business telephone headsets, but its very unusual and they are almost always single ear jobs...I've never seen a right facing boom in the gaming headset world. Are you absolutely sure your mic boom doesn't have the ability to swing around the other direction?
