So, my computer had been running wonky these last couple days and I was getting quite miffed and couldn't figure out what was wrong. So like all good geeks I was playing around in my msconfig and noticed something had been changed since one of my recent windows updates these past few weeks. Apparently, someone thought it'd be a good idea to cap my maximum memory for whatever reason. Seeing 3.00g usable (8.0g installed) made me a very unhappy boy. Fortunately it's a simple fix: Msconfig > Boot > Advanced Options > Uncheck Maximum Memory This seems to have been happening to quite a few people so take 3 seconds out of your day and right click my computer and make sure your maximum memory is where it should be.
Hmm. Interesting. The x58 EVGA sli boards were capping memory as well but it was BIOS related, this post reminded me of that. Fortunately I didn't have that problem. Guess I need to check if mine was changed as well.
