When I built Kitsune and my pc's eons ago, I bought a decent motherboard (AM3 socket), but an OK CPU - assuming I would down the line upgrade the CPU to a better one. It seems I have a choice, either a 4-core or 6-core - but I'm not sure which is better:

Both are priced at $99.99 at a local store (which last I check was beating newegg's price). Which candidate is better for a gaming rig?

    Thanks.

the 965 is better if you dont have a good heatsink as well and plan to overclock them as far as you can. The 965 is faster than the 1045T at the same clock speed by 2-3% already, and if just running at stock speeds of each the quad core will do much better because it runs faster per core. Games wont benefit much yet from the 2 extra cores, that is still a couple years out.
