I have often wondered when on forums and in game where people have gotten their name, or what it means. So, post it here. No further explanation needed My username, Brown McCoy, is very random. It was my grade 7 art class, and for some strange reason, some guys thought it would be fun to call me brown mccoy. At the time, it irritated me, so they kept doing it. Eventually it became my email address, and then my online alias for everything. The Brown part is my last name, and they don't even know where the McCoy part came from. My WoW Characters: Steropes (warrior): One of the three cyclops in Greek mythology. Thanks to Grizlack, this was later morphed to Stereo Herpes, later shortened to Herpes, then to Herps. And by later, I mean within 2 days of transferring my warrior back... Clavit (priest): 100% random name that I thought sounded fine. Aesar (druid): Formerly a druidic god, which was brought into Roman mythology later on. Not much is known about Aesar. He is rumored to be the ancient creator god, or god of Fire and Inteligence in Celtic mythology. He may have been a druid deity, and possible god of destruction (this is what I based the name off of). The god is more commonly now as Aesus. Melinoe (Death Knight, not level capped, but has a decent name): The greek goddess of ghosts. CoD4 names: ({x}) Brown - Take a guess ({x}) Banana - Your guess is as good as mine. I started off with the name Randal Rasandil here. Needed the 2 names for Guild wars. . . Changed to Harlequin once I was at home here on the forums (although i wish i had picked something a little less popular! Trying to grab Harlequin as an IGN can be tough!) Other IGNs I've used are generally game dependent or class dependent. I usually call my healers Popavalium. . . in WAR I had fun with the goblin names like Danglywotnots and Upstixanrun. . . If I can't grab Harlequin in Aion, I may return to my GW roots and resurrect Rasandil. In short, there is no method to my madness.
My very first MMO char was called Tamboura, she was a priestess and became the oldest char in the game, quite famous in the ol'days. The tamboura is India's ancient stringed instrument. Its resonant, hypnotic quality is one of the most distinctive features of indian classical music. It was also used by the Beatles and used in some of their best albums. If a yogi listens with undivided attention to the sounds of stringed instruments where resonance is prolonged, he will finally be absorbed in the space of Consciousness and will attain the state of the Self. - Vijnana Bhairava The sound of the tamboura resonates with the primordial sound "OM" from which all melodies arise and into which they subside. Accompanied by the tamboura, melodies no longer sound like separate notes, but blend together into an ocean of sound that quiets the mind and soothes the heart. I started with RFO in 2006 i believe, back then i called my accretian striker "steelranger" (WOW! how original!) Anyways i got bored when i got to lvl 35 or so and i quit for a few years. When i found out it was f2p i started again but i didnt really like my old ign but i couldnt think of anything good. Then one day while lvling this guy calls me "eelstranger" and WHAM! i was renamed. And from that day on i was known as eel and there was finally world peace. PS i also use "Hippie Johnstar" sometimes
M first name in an MMO was taken from the sound ny infant son would make when I played with him, Bouchawoo. After taking the merciless pummeling abuse from other players on it I swore my next name would be short, cool sounding and onomatopoeiac, so I played Zim, a heavily roleplayed Empath class in Gemstome III who was dumb (couldn't speak) and couldn't ask for help with his own injuries. I got a lot of praise for doing that, especially from the elders in the game as it was never done before. Then the next step from Zim was Zed. I had no idea at the time that it was what some english speaking folks called the letter Z, it also was before the time of the movie Pulp Fiction and before Power Rangers, the two comments I hear the most about it. Zed has now even become my "stage name" during music performances, and I record under the name as well. My gamemaster name when I worked in the business was Nimbus, and since it was taken before I got a chance to take it in Aion I chose Cumulus instead. Different cloud formation, same idea. I loves me my Zed and I can only hope it will be free upon OB.
EDIT: I chose FriendlyFire back in the Quake3 days playing Urban Terror. It was the first game I played that had FriendlyFire_on. I think I joined one server 3 times with a diffrent IGN and procceded to kill everything in sight. I think I was banned from that server. Since then: I chose FriendlyFire in Planetside and have since killed many a teammate.
Simple for me picked Azphel because he is an Empyrean Lord of Shadow in Aion and i think it would be good to have my forum, ign as him in Aion and everywhere on the Internet.
Im gonna have to be on the spot in terms of the start time for Pre-selction if i dont i have a feeling my name will be taken as it is to do with Aion anyway and when people can think of names they look at people from the games lore for names to use.
Since my very first game I've ever played I've had the name Blakkmantis. I wanted something different that sounded kinda cool, and also would be easily remembered by my foes, lol. I love the color black, and always liked the insect the Preying Mantis. So after twisting the spelling of Black to Blakk (just to be different) adding mantis, walla my namesake! Over the years I've made other toons, and my most notable ones are Dirk Massive (from Eve Online) and Bolvork (from EQ2) Look for me to eventually make toons with those named sometime in the future also.
Harlequin is also an assassin character in the warhammer 40,000 series. thought u might like to know ur completely badass ^^ Xamiazi has no real meaning, however its a mix between Latin and Sicilian Italian, Miazi is a old Italian slang used by a old Sicilian mafia family, though i wont tell you what it means; just know that it means something; and i doubt u can find it on google

He eventually became my main NPC (think Sauron) when I embraced the role of DM in high school (Mees Geeksa) The name came from an altered spelling on the Sumerian God, Marduk out of Deities and Demigods. In Sumerian myth, Mardok slayed Tiamat (D&D Cartoon ne1???) which is considered their creation story.
