I have posted about this before..its about to become a reality. Gamers play for real http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/programmes/click_online/8333340.stm and demo available at this link http://www.realtimerace.com/
I don't know if I would pay money for this. It would be awesome for the announcers at the end of the race say "Well Jeff Gordon finished first but FriendlyFire still had the fastest lap".
I don't know how this would work, because your not there to the real drivers so they aren't giving you space. So there will be geometry problems where you are in a spot then someone drives through you.
I imagine it will be similar to ghosting on a console. Not sure if they will let you drive thru them like they can drive thru you. But then again..if they can drive thru you..your not going fast enough..
^True...still the idea of racing "live" is intriguing. I wonder if they will put you in live races with other "ghosters"..have rankings and set you in servers with people of similar skill. I could see that getting really competitive. #1 ghoster in the world!! Also there would be replay value I think..try and improve your run for that race..see where you went wrong..see what you did right. I imagine this will/can be applied to other races as well...downhill skiing..snowboarding..planes...whatever. be cool to have commentary also for the ghosters like the real racers have.
Sounds like EA's tournament style play on Tiger Woods PGA Tour 10. You can play with realtime weather conditions while the pros are playing to see how you match up.
