So, I have a new project for the family. I need to get all our old VHS family videos onto the pc for dvd backups.

I honestly have no clue on where to start with this one. Any help would be appreciated.

If you have a powerful computer, or lots of time to kill, you can run converted video files through another encoder and do things like edge sharpen filters, de-noising, and things like that to greatly improve the quality of the older VHS videos. Try it on 1 video and see how long it takes, you probably wont want to do it to very many. Adding a post-processing edge-sharpen filter during encode will take a VERY long time.

    A. It's for my mom
    B. It's 15 years worth of movies...
    C. I need to get it done by Mom's day with limited time

But thank you both for pointing me in the right direction.
