So I'm thinking about upgrading my video card from the old GTS 8800 to a GTX 660, any thoughts and anyone interested in the old card on the cheap?

Overall it will be a nice upgrade from your current GPU, but dont expect it to last 5 years like your current card did. The 8800GTS was a pretty high end card in its day, the 660 is a lower midrange card and is handicapped by memory bandwidth and shaders.

There a better choice for the same relative price range? Keep in mind I am a Nvidia addict.

Let's also add that my max resolution on my monitor is 1680 x 1050 so I'm not needing to power something insane.

No, there is no better choice in that price range at the moment. The only thing in the same price range is a 560Ti, but the 660 is the better way to go.

To take some load off, you could try running the 8800GTS along side your new 660 as a dedicated PhysX card. But, PhysX doesnt put very much load on any new cards anyway... Still, and extra few FPS might be useful.

Just have both cards installed, dont use the SLI bridge since it isnt going to run SLI mode, install the drivers like normal, and then in the Nvidia Control Panel under the PhysX section choose the 8800GTS.
