Can't wait? There is now a count down timer!"

Okay, I don't know how much everyone who reads this knows, or what their interests are. But coming soon, in about a month, I will be heading to this marathon and participating.

What is this marathon? - This is simply SDA, a speed run records site (I dont say WR because we have 'demos' of all records, which in that case a few WRs escape us but we still have a good comprehensive list), going to play 100+ games in about 100 hours. We will be taking donations to the Prevent Cancer Foundation.

What will be played? - There is a schedule in the link but a few quick highlights... CV:SoTN, Chrono Trigger, Resident Evil (the main series), Super Mario Bros, Metroid, and some new stuff like Uncharted 2, Halo, and Metroid Prime.

Why am I bringing this up? - I participate in speed Runs and will be playing the following games at the marathon...
    1. Castlevania: Symphony of the Night - This is a race between me and the other two 'best' SoTN players in the world... This is also a rematch between me and romscout from last year's marathon
    2. Resident Evil 5 - I will be co-oping with one of the better Resident Evil players, as we aim to destroy this game in less than an 1:30
    3. Castle Crashers - 4 castle crashers, rushing to the end of the game?! More fun!
    4. River City Ransom - Me and the current Record holder (Feasel) will attempt to counter those horrible gangs and save the girl. Should be interesting.
    5. Final Fantasy 4(j/2us) - I am looking to beast this game in under 4* hours. (Well under 5 cause the final boss is dick).

Why am I bringing this up (part 2) ? - I want XoO to be aware of this and hopefully generate some cheers for me during the CV:SoTN race and maybe if people are willing, a few donations for Prevent Cancer Foundation.

Why is SDA doing this? - We did it last year as an experiment, and in only ~60 hrs we beasted through a lot of games and generated ~$11k for CARE. We all had soo much fun doing it, we decided to make it an annual thing...
Last year's schedule has a playlist which features recording of all of last year's action

I hope to see you all there! And I hope everyone just stops by to watch, or passes the word on. Thank you all,

    RaneofSoTN

FFIV Speedrun? I'll be there to watch it. ;o

From what I've read, they'll be streaming it via Ustream on their homepage.
    Maybe this? http://www.ustream.tv/channel/sda-charity-marathon

It'll be on ustream, but we also configure the Http://www.speeddemosarchive.com homepage to show the streams have the chat wired in. We did that as well last year.

@FriendlyFire: Sorry we don't use those... cheating that way is sooo boring.

*Note: We might perform glitches and other things, some people view as cheating... Like abusing bunny hops and other such things.

10 days to the marathon, and just felt like hopping this to the top. I do hope to see some XoO'ers there.

23 minutes? The best time I've seen is 43 minutes, and it was Tool-Assisted. How the heck did you do it? o_o

I dont know. It was years and years ago when the game came out. I played it on a really long road trip to Colorado (from California) and was able to get incredibly good throughout the trip. I found some area in the game that you can jump up once you have the space jump boots that takes a bit of time to get up as its a LONG way up and you arent supposed to get to that area until much later in the game.
