I just got back from seeing this movie. I quite enjoyed myself. The music was astounding but I expected that since it is coming from Daft Punk. I did like their appearance in the film as well. I liked the action and the effects were great. It had some cheesy lines but that was probably to avoid a more mature rating. I recommend you see this. Anyone see it?
How did the evil jeff bridges look? He looked terrible in the previews. I'll probably go see this monday night or something.
Saw it at the Midnight release and I loved it. CLUE looked alright. It was obvious that he was fake, but it looked decent. I really loved the movie. Definitely a must watch for everyone. Music was really deep and synced with the movie well. Their appearance was pretty funny too. Olivia looked drop dead gorgeous the entire time. I jizzed every time she was on screen. Overall, PURE AWESOME movie! Recommended to everyone! Just make sure you watch the original first.
Before this thread every opinion of the movie I'd come across was akin to, "This movie is shit, avoid it at all costs." LOL.
I watched it at midnight. It was awesome. Major spoiler in the title of the 20th track from the OST. Here's what I said on twitter at mignight, when no one was awake to read it: Protip: the Protomen are awesome.
glad to see some good reviews here. the local papers here are saying it's "meh" but I value you guys opinions better than the pin-heads that rate our movies in Chicago. with the exception of Ebert. gotta love Ebert.
The story was meh. If you watch the previews the line pops up "Best Technical movie of the year" and that's what it is. The visuals are stunning, music is great, but the overall story was a bit meh. It's a must see in theaters, because that's where it shines, and I enjoyed myself, but as I watched it I just felt like something key was missing. Maybe the fact that is was a Disney movie made it dumbed down. It was a very shallow plot for such a cult classic and didn't hit the nostalgia that it could have to make original Tron fans fall in love with it. My favorite review so far:
FUCK SOCIAL NETWORK AND FUCK THAT FAGGOT MARK WHATSHISFACE. As a fan of the original Tron, I believe that not watching the original is pretty much the sole reason some people don't get 100% of what they could out of Tron Legacy. It also helps if you were raised with Digimon as a kid.
I'm fairly sure that many of the people who went to see Legacy saw the original, and did get 100% of it. Unfortunately that 100% fell short to 50%, which is the rating that rotten tomato gave it and a score I agree with.
There was not much story in the original Tron..I liked the original even if the story was very slim. and the fact it came out before the PC user interface..lots of people were just lost watching it...and they still liked it. They were entranced over the red evil blocks chasing the good red blocks.. I went and saw Potter instead
I thought the movie was awesome. Everyone I know in real life thought it was awesome too. IMO it was everything I was expecting for a sequel to the original.
Down at 49% now. And yet 79% of the people who went and saw it still liked it. Just goes to show that professional reviewers dont look at or care about the same things as normal people going to the movies.
