I just came across that trivium released a new CD a few months back!! Can't believe I totally missed the release!! I've so far heard 5 of the songs and I think it is some really solid stuff. For the album they have taken a step away from the Greek mythological influence and created a world of their own. Which, if you watch the videos is pretty awesome. The feeling of the songs match the landscape really well. If metalcore/thrash is your idea of a good time I don't imagine you will dislike what is offered up. I may be biased as I am a pretty big Trivium fan.

I'll be heading out to pick up the new CD tomorrow to get a listen to the rest of the tracks. I don't expect to be disappointed at all by what I will hear.

    eta-

5/5 for the album so far.

I prefer Trivium to Mastadon. They are different styles of metal though so if you like one you may not like the other.

Trivium is a band I've been meaning to check out, just haven't had the chance. They seem to play a lot of shows in southern Ontario. I visit Inertia Entertainment for the latest shows, and it seems like there's always something about Trivium in there.

I like both. Trivium is definitely a little more thrash compared to Mastadon. I like both but Crack the Skye was one of the best metal albums i've ever listended to in my life.

Yeah, they have been around here quite a bit. I however have not had a chance to see them yet. As soon as I heard this song I went and checked the site for tour dates and as luck would have it they are going to be in Toronto@ the Sound Acadamy on February 14th. I will be going to see the show without a doubt!!

I'm kinda tempted to go myself, because one of my favourite bands - In Flames - is headlining that show. :p

I saw Trivium open for slipknot and Mastadon open for Dethklok. I like Mastadon better, but both were solid and entertaining. Crack the Skye is a great one. I have not heard the new stuff.

So I was at the Trivium concert with in flames headlining last night. It was fucking epic. Both of the bands sound phenomenal live and put on a great show. Trivium played for an hour and In flames was on stage for 1.5 hours but spent a bit of time talking to the audience. I was right at the front for trivium and I forgot how tiring it can be up there. Like god damn. Shit was crazy. I didn't stay up there for In flames because I probably would have passed out.

At the end of Trivium's set I managed to snag one of the drum sticks Nick used during the show. Pretty epic jump with all those metal fans around. Thankfully most people around were overweight and probably had the hand eye coordination of a 2 year old girl so I didn't have too much competition.

They are coming back April 1st to play again and said they will be playing a longer set with different songs so I will most likely try and get to that show too. The concert fucking rocked.

Sounds like you had a blast.

I don't like In Flames' newer stuff, which is what they play now, otherwise I may have gone. Colony and Jester Race albums are their best work imo.

I don't really know In Flames stuff all that well. That was the most I had ever heard them. I did enjoy it and at one point the guy made a comment about how they were going to play old stuff but the audience better get into it. He said they play it and people just stand around because they don't know it. I believe it since they have been around for quite a while and I'm sure a lot of the people at these shows know mostly their new stuff. I wish I knew what some of the songs they played were because they were actually really good.

In Flames isn't a bad band, some of their earlier stuff was fantastic. Their album, "A Sense of Purpose" kind of hit an emo/scene kid sound. Don't get me wrong they still sound good but *puts hipster glasses on* I liked their older stuff better. I have not heard the most recent album but if I had to judge a book by its cover, I would say it's like the previous.

Here are some videos from triviums set courtesy of others who decided to momentarily remove themselves from enjoying the concert.

    Capsizing the Sea/In Waves

    Forsake Not the Dream

Caustic Are the Ties That Bind

    Down From the Sky

Pull Harder on the Strings of Your Martyr + Black

Happy birthday to one of their crew!! :D

I should also mention that my girlfriend got these tickets for me for christmas and she came along with me and a couple of my buddies to the show. She's a champ for putting up with music she doesn't exactly enjoy. Her idea of a good concert would be taylor swift which I would more easily be able to tolerate than her this. She wore earplugs for most of the concert lol she was probably the smart one as I couldn't hear properly for the next couple days :p
