Yeah the title pretty much says it all. Someone has made an iPhone app that allows you to do an on the go confession. This is even being endored by high ranking catholic members and even the Pope. You enter a sin, it gives a passage from the bible. Members of the church are saying that if they get the people of this generation with an app like this, it will encourage them to go to mass. I personally think its a way to brain wash everyone but hey, that is just me. Link to an article.
Yeah, I can't believe the amount of followers this day and age with all the scientific discoveries....
I didn't post this as an anti-religious thread but more of the fact that its silly to think you can make right of all the bad shit someone has done via an iPhone. To each his own and if your religion says that in order for you to repent something that you've done wrong is to go visit a clergy member then do it and stop being lazy. ***EDIT*** As for the brainwashing comment, that wasn't directed at any person in particular. I meant that as in commercialism. It seems no matter what you put as an app on any device people will buy it. Soon there is going to be an app to help you breath. If it gets to that point i'm killing myself.
On a more fiscal note, if anyone else here is an investor, let me just note that despite the many stock picker ads saying to pick up Verizon before they release the iPhone, I feel that it will be a disappointment. You'd be better off picking up foxconn on the Chinese market, as they make about 2/3 of iPhones parts. This has been a public service announcement sponsored by mord's market corner.
Dont forget about the really bad publicity with all the suicides they have going on right now though and the fact that they wont be making as much money soon due to spending more on their workplace and employees.
Foxconn is a Taiwanese company, I think. Anyway, Secksy has a point. It's a funny app (I wonder if the data is recorded by the vendor for later ... use?), but it's really easy for replies to a thread like this to break the CoC.
My first thought upon reading this in the news earlier went something like this: Wow, the Catholic church is using more new technology. Why do news media continue to think religions and gadgets make quaint partners? Last I checked, certain other religious organisations have become quite adept at using cellphones to trigger carbombs.
Not to worry, as they've installed safety nets to catch would-be window jumpers(according to the dailyshow lol)! But really though, the point I'm trying to make is sort of the opposite of the old saying "why buy the cow". Sure, Verizon's market share will go up for a period of time - but whose market share will see the greatest long term increase? Apple. But I digress, as I'm leading this thread off topic.
