Swiftech H220 (the demise of the H100) I know I created a thread specifically for CES stuff but I think this deserves a thread all its own. I am steadily becoming less and less a fan of corsair products. While the H100 does a great job it is loud and they had some inexcusable design flaws with it that took too long for them to remedy. It also took them a long time to admit that there was even a problem when a lot of knowledgeable users had fixes for the problem. Then the fiasco that is the corsair link. Just go to their support forum to see the problems with the software. It's never worked correctly for me and many other people as well. That being said credit where credit is due. Their cases are great and I couldn't be happier with my 800D. Press Release I'll probably buy this thing the day it is released. Assuming heaven is maxed those temps are wicked. I'm sold.
I love my h100 with strapped on ap15s. No issues, quiet (due to my fan choice), keeps my 3570k cool at 4.5ghz, and I stayed away from Corsair link.
after like 2 minutes..... Update: Found this as well... That article also says 'Immenent release' so hopefully i can pick one up soon. Definitely going to run this i think. Wish they had a double 140mm rad instead of 120 though. Love the fan controller.
doesnt really say i would anticipate they are just preinstalled and dont need to be fiddled with since they know most enthusiasts will want to swap out for their own stuff
The kraken x60 from nzxt is a double 140 but i don't know of any cases that have a mounting option for it.
my lian li has 2 140mm fans in the front but i dont think there is room for a pump along with it. might have to do a custom loop, which im perfectly fine with, i definitely dont want one of those regular oem off the shelf AIO's units, shits weak. although i picked up a cheap one for my server and it does ok. Update: I looked at my case and i was banking that lian li, in usual fashion had screwed the hard drive cage mounting bracked to the case and not riveted it. Well bad news, its riveted. Really annoying when they cut corners on a $400 case. Looks like my best option is an external rad 3x120mm in push pull. oh well. As long as i do it well it should look ok, badass even.
There are a few towers that have dual 140 fan holes on the top. Corsair makes one or two, odd since their own cooler uses 120mm mounts. Lian-Li also makes a few. Probably others too who have expensive full sized towers.
I know they have a case with 2x 140mm fan mounts on the side panel but I wouldn't want to mount an AIO cpu cooler to that. I feel like if they haven't put 140mm fan mounts on the top of the 900D none of their other cases would have it since it is their top of the line case. Corsair link is starting not work on the fans attached to the h100. :/ it's not following the custom curve I had set up and max RPM reads as 4000+ RPM :s Come on swiftech! Need this out sooner rather than later. I was quite impressed the pump in the cooler could run a full custom loop with a GPU added in.
CEO of Swiftech sorting out some idiot on the linus tech tips forum for being an uneducated fuck head. Makes me like these guys even more.
Looking forward to seeing these things out in the wild. I wonder what the ETA for the bigger ones are that were mentioned by Gabe. I really want the H100 out of my system >.< While I am really looking forward to this another technology I would like to see more on the Sandia Cooler. It is, after all, a new technology and not a rehash.
Anandtech just released a review on this unit along with Corsair and NZXT offerings. Looks ok? Performed the "best" out of the bunch.
From the review I would sayit is the best AiO cooler on the market right now. It plays ball with the bigger boys (140mm) and does it at a much quieter level. Sound being an important factor for me since the h100 is ridiculously noisy. You can't beat physics and unless you're using a material with no thermal conductivity the larger surface area of the 140mm coolers is going to win. I wonder how much of a difference the different materials in the rad of the h220 actually made. I for one will be waiting for a little while longer to see if they make any announcements on the 360mm version before deciding when to buy. Edit*** I would like to see a review from hardware canucks on the h220 with the same units being compared. I'm calling BS on the h110 and x60 results. Those products are for all intents and purposes the exact same. Fan specs are different and the nzxt fans, based on specs, should outperform the corsair ones (the nzxt fans have higher rpm, static pressure and cfm). Someone is lying about something. Whether it's NZXT about fan specs, anandtech about results or corsair about fans, I don't know. Also, the h80i beating the h100i? What the frack?
New review from martinsliquidlab. I'm inclined to trust in this guys results a little more. It isn't a side by side comparison of this vs other AiO but it is going to be a pretty in depth look at the h220. It looks awesome so far. H220 Installation Manual Hi-tech legion says the h220 beats them all. 140mm rads included. Still looking like the best option outside a custom loop.
Love swiftech, but alot of times it seems alot of reviews are more based on the fan then anything, noise, cooling rate, etc If i didnt already have a custom loop with a 1080 rad, id be all over it.
If they come out with a 3x120 then ill do it. Even a 2x120 would be fine. I want watercooling but custom loops are pricey and i dont really need to watercool anything outside of my cpu in all honesty... maybe my GPU but i can easily add that to the h220 if i want to. plus i like that PWM fan controller
