    Spiritmaster - Malael

Hey guys, I checked out some videos on Aion, and I have to say I was under some misconceptions. This game looks great! So, I'm going to put in a new application for Aion. I am just going to copy/paste and adjust some answers for here if that is ok:

    Age (18+ Requirement): 35

Name (Forum & IGN): Malfecto and IGN to be determined.

Class: After looking at the guild needs list, I think I could do Chanter or Spiritmaster. I can't do Cleric, as I am an awful healer. I am pretty flexible, so whatever is needed, I would be happy with most likely.

Do you have vent and a mic?: Yes to both.

Previous gaming experience: I have been playing MMO's since the Discworld MUDD (that's text-only for you youngens). I have played SWG, Planetside, DDO, WoW, CoH/CoV, AoConan, Warhammer Online, as well as other various shooters, etc. I am also an avid XBOX fan.

Why did you chose XoO / Why do you think you'll be a good fit:? When I played Warhammer, XoO was Destruction on the original server we started on before the merging mayhem. My main character was a Bright Wizard with Crimson Guard named Mal. The times we had out on the field of battle were always the best when XoO showed up. I admired and respected the group as a whole, and now, after seeing a Superteam post on the CO forums from you guys, I thought I would apply and see if I could join. I also would like to think that I am a goals oriented person, and I would want to be in a goals oriented guild, which is what XoO seems to be.

What will you contribute to the guild / How will you improve our guild and be a valued member? I am a mature, friendly, helpful person in game typically. I am also very competitive, and I like to bring that out in my fellow guild mates. I am in the game for the guild/social aspect as much as the game. I have a sharp wit, I don't drink and game, and I don't start guild drama. I have too much of that in my life already.

Do you have a referal?: No, I discovered that you guys might have a chapter in Champions from the "find a guild" forum on Champions-online.com. Then, when I saw there was little interest, Kyoji used his jedi mind trick to make me go look at the Aion website. So here I am :p

A little bit about yourself: I am a 35 year old IT technician currently teaching Cisco CCNA courses at the local technical college. I live in Baton Rouge, LA, and I am married with two dogs. I am looking for a crowd of more mature gamers that value not just the "purplez" and "phat lootz" but the loyalty and comraderie of its members.

On the technical side of things, I run a e6600 Intel with an 8800 GTX 768 MB video card with 4 GB of RAM. My connection is always reliable with the incredibly rare exception when my router's dhcp server vomits on itself.

I am currently letting my WoW sub expire (wife and I agreed long ago that one game at a time was more than fair ), but while I was playing, I saw all of Ulduar up to Yogg as both a MT and DPS mage. I fully expect to be interested in whatever end game Aion has to offer. I am especially happy to see them trying to innovate with the PvPvE gameplay.

I am a competitive gamer, and often times that comes across to fellow players as conceit or patronization, but really, I just like to play to the best of my ability. I have always been available for my guild mates in the past games, both helping the noobs, and contributing my share to raids and fortress sieges (as pathetic as the Order attempts were ).

Activity Level? (hrs/week): I typically play 3 hours a night on the weekdays, a lot longer on the weekends. I would say 20-25 hours a week.

If you have any other questions, just post or PM me here and I'll do my best to answer them.

    Thanks!

To be honest, after looking at the SM more, I am definitely leaning that way. It looks like a lot of fun, and with annoying roots and fears should be up my alley.

I've watched a few videos of them and their so easy to kill people with! (on the ground) Never seen a video of them fighting in the air yet tho, might be our biggest setback

Yea, it seems that way. Shouldn't be too bad though.

I can see if we are solo and nobody thats Elyos is around it would be very difficult to win a 1v1 in the air unless the CC's stay locked in.

    We will see ^^

I think its not as bad as people think it is. Sure, our spirits don't fly, but we got Wing Root to force them to land, where we can use our spirit.

Imo use a root, fear and then wing root with some dots on him, wait till he is forced to land and then instant summon your water spirit which can use its Crash ability if he wants to fly again (probably use it after you rooted or feared him).

But thats just speculation, but it does sound possible to do!

I'm only worried about the dots not stacking. So basically you can only rely on one SM per group. Or have the other SM go for full CC and berzerk with his spirit while the other SM applies dots and nukes the life out of him.

True, the more I read about SM, the more of a tactical importance I think we'll have. Both on the front of a line and backfield, helping pin targets for assassins et al and in general keeping the airspace around healers free of bogeys.
