Oh look... a sonic game that isn't a freaking sonic game.... seriously folks, what will it take to get them to just go back to either the Sonic Adventure formula, or hell even the original one would be better. I've completely lost interest in this franchise as it's games continue to plummet in quality.

I thought Sonic Adventure was kind of cool.

They need to go back to the 2D side scrolling with a 3D element or two.

Cant beat the originals... but ya adventures wasn't too bad. They almost ruined the franchise with the crap they have been spewing out recently.

If they do make another 2D game, it'll probably be on the DS since hardcore gamers like 3D.

I still think sonic adventure 2 battle was one of the best designed games of it's time, they chose mech for the battle aspect which turned me off a bit (not liking mech combat) but so many aspects of the game were great. Have you seen the soundtrack to it? It's got like 70 full length and quality MP3's.

I also liked the chao aspect, but it was a bit too convoluted and racing them wasn't thrilling... what they should have done is made it like cream's chao and have it follow you around (cream was the best 2d sonic char just because of the chao's long range =P)

This game sounds like it's going way way WAY too far to include swords into the game, I mean you are going with melee combat, so you give the brass knuckle fighting character 2 swords? Jesus fucking christ.

I want to play this game, because to me the feel of the sonic/mario/dk/ect game always dictates how enjoyable the experience is going to be and what game it actually is. Otherwise I tend to not judge by the cover since I don't mind the theming as long as it's a good game. Some people get iffy though and that's their choice. :)

I will agree with you there though. Sonic A2B was very well done. I had it for GC and I really loved it. That is the only sonic game since the 2D ones I have liked.

  12. Best opening ever in a sonic game. I have this old copy of sonic CD for windows 95 that doesnt play on any computers i have (even virtual pc windows 98) but you can still watch all the movies off the disk.

Best sonic game ever IMO was sonic 3 + sonic and knuckles (locked on version). 14 colossal levels and the most epic sonic end game boss battle ever, even compared to the newer games. That sonic team will never be able to top robotnik's robot with the master emerald powering a massive laser, and the pursuing chase through space with super sonic (which they even reused in the DS sonic).

Frankly, i bought a dreamcast to try out sonic adventure 2, and it sucked horribly. Sonic Adventure DX (game cube) isnt that bad of a game.

Back on topic though, Sonic and the Black Knight? Im expecting Sonic to be pwned by Batman here (even though he is the "Dark Knight"). They wont lose the younger sonic audience (especially the ones who watch the Saturday morning cartoon), but the older ones they'll lose.

BTW if you ever see Sonic the Hedgehog anniversary edition for GBA, dont buy it. They changed the physics engine in it and made it unplayable.

They did that already, it's called sonic rush. It's pretty good, but a little awkward because of the gap between screens... overall thumbs up from me because it's true to the original sonic series (1-3, sega genesis IMO).

I still have my genesis and sonic games, and have sonic 3 + sonic and knuckles basically memorized. It's mostly because this was the first one of the series that allowed you to save your progress, so you didn't have to sit and play through the whole game in one sitting. They actually did make sonic 3D for the genesis, but they made it so that pretty much everything was diagonal, and it was very annoying to play (though I did go through several levels before I got bored with it).

I tried sonic adventure on my husband's dreamcast, but it just wasn't the same as the sonic I grew up addicted to (2D sidescroller ftw). And they started coming out with random crap like sonic spinball (pinball game), racing games, some game where shadow is doing something very un-sonic-like... I lost interest in the franchise entirely until I saw a preview video for something they're putting together for the PS3.

I thought I'd give "sonic the hedgehog" on the PS3 a go since they had it at blockbuster to rent (thinking it was the one I saw the preview for), but holy SHIT was I disappointed. Possibly the worst game I've ever played, and I used to troll somethingawful for NES roms to marvel at their awfulness.

BRING BACK CLASSIC SONIC, OR QUIT CALLING IT SONIC; QQ!

    /end rant
