So today I was finally reading the LoL forums over teh SOPA deal and kinda was like wait wtf

    post 5 on 1st page http://na.leagueoflegends.com/board/showthread.php?t=1696462

Hi, this is Congressman Jared Polis of Colorado. As a member of the League of Legends community (partial to Anivia and Maokai), and as someone who made his living as an Internet entrepreneur before being elected to Congress, I’m greatly concerned about the future of the Internet and gaming if Congress doesn't wake up. You may have heard that Congress is currently considering a bill called the Stop Online Piracy Act, or SOPA. While SOPA has a ton of problems, there are some significant issues that I thought fellow gamers might want to know about.

I’m particularly concerned that SOPA might stifle the kind of innovation that brings us games we love, such as LoL. The bill makes it far too easy for angry competitors to sue good law abiding companies out of existence. It threatens any company or website that depends on user-generated content, even companies like Riot. Instead of coming up with great ways to keep making games like LoL even better, companies will have to spend their money hiring lawyers. That's why companies like Riot, who want to protect the games they create, are opposed to SOPA.

I’ve been working on alternative legislation that would protect the games companies create while also fostering innovation. But we also need you to call your members of Congress and let them know of your opposition to SOPA. This bill has a very real chance of passing, and it is up to all of who want to protect the Internet to take action. More information is available at http://keepthewebopen.com/. Please make your voices heard in this debate! I will be happy to respond to your posts below, and will check back every few hours today and respond to as many as I can.

Pretty cool that a congressman plays LoL.

In my all-Canadian BF Bad Company 2 clan, there is an MP (Member of Parliament) from Ontario who plays with us. MPs are to Canada what Congressman are to the US (sort of). Saw him on TV and stuff. Really cool.

Looks like a smurf account. 2 games with 21/11 and 12/4 as kog and graves respectively. The graves build looks like a trollbuild while the kog build is pretty nice.

Wow... Thats hilarious. And it blew away that forum, as well. I love it.

    Ps- a side note:
there's been another few attempts to discuss this topic on our forum. And while I see the validity in a no politics and no religion policy, I hope that the moderators will see the gravity of the issue being discussed here. The fact that a large portion of what is shared and discussed on this xoohq forum would be made effectively illegal to leave up, and these moderators will have to filter and censor material on a regular basis or potentially be held criminally responsible along with the poster for what other people are posting should be motivation enough for letting a political discussion survive in at least one thread. I truly believe that this is some of the most important legislation of our generation. It WILL change the whole of the internet. Its simply too important to ignore.
If you are compelled to respond to this, please avoid posting something to detailed about your personal view on the subject. I'd love to see this thread survive so at least people can link to a site where a discussion of this very important legislation is welcome.

No politics, no religion. Dash made it crystal clear the last time a political thread was allowed to continue.
While I would love to share my opinions as it's somewhat relevant to gaming in the end its politics. I am sure there are a ton of sites people can go to follow and talk about sopa.
