The world’s first series of “fully-immersive erotic encounters” is being developed by a new California-based startup. In other words, virtual reality sex is finally on its way.

The new company, Sinful Robot, is producing the game for the virtual reality headset, the Oculus Rift, which is currently in development.

Co-founder and creative director Jeroen Van den Bosch hopes to navigate his way through the uncanny valley and deliver an "erotic adventure game” that feels, well, real.

'I have been waiting for many years for technology to become immersive enough so it [tricks] your brain to accept the virtual reality as reality.'

"I have been waiting for many years for technology to become immersive enough so it [tricks] your brain to accept the virtual reality as reality, but the Rift does really do that," Van den Bosch wrote on Reddit. "So now we can finally make an erotic adventure game that will actually be exciting!"

Van den Bosch is looking to recruit 3D programmers, artists and animators in anticipation of the Rift’s pending release, specifically “anyone who loves working on cutting edge technology and isn't afraid of working with spicy content.”

The Oculus Rift virtual reality headset was successfully funded on Kickstarter in September, raising over $2.4 million from 9000 backers, smashing it’s goal of $250,000. Users are clearly enthused by the idea.

The headset first made waves back in June when John Carmack, founder of id Software and the creator of iconic first-person-shooters like Doom, Wolfenstein 3D and Quake demoed the tech at the Electronic Entertainment Expo.

"What I've got now, is, I honestly think the best VR demo probably the world has ever seen," Carmack said at the time.

I am all for the progression of technology. But it is most likely more fun just to go to a party and get laid.

Edit: Nevermind. I am already proven wrong by the ridiculous popularity of virtual girlfriends in Japan and those are 2d.
