Let's hope it lives up to Silent Hill 2, which was my favorite - did not necessarily care about some of the other titles.

Can't have my cake and eat it too, although that phrase doesn't make sense now that I'm typing it out.

Silent Hill Homecoming tried to be too much like SH2 and ended up being lame.

I'm not sure what to make of this one yet, but I'm glad they scrapped the multiplayer idea, cuz that would've been stupid.

EDIT: I'm gonna call right now that SH: Downpour is probably gonna resemble SH1 too much. I base this on the fact that it begins with a bus crash.

Wish I got shattered memories for Wii, it got awesome reviews. Even people who thought it was gonna be a shitty reboot thought it was amazing

    not really.

that game was far too safe and unscary to be a good SH game, and the chaise mechanic got old after a couple times.

the psych mechanic thingy was really neat, but poorly applied. if you go through the trouble to design a system that adjusts to the player... you should use it to make the horror game scarier... thats not what it does. rather, they created it to make the world resemble your mind, which is not scary.

to take the typical example. if you act perverted, staring at TnA, calling callgirls, and generally doing things that are ill advised.... then what the game should do is provide lots of negative feeback, you should be shunned, guilted, blamed, made to feel horrible about yourself. and it should be portrayed in such a way that makes your perversity part of the problem, that in some way... your runaway sex drive is the cause of all the towns problems. is this what happens? no. instead you are rewarded for your actions with more of the same, the characters become sluttier, dress skimpier, the monsters become more sexualised..... none of which are bad things to a perverted mindset

inversely, if you are a paragon of virtue, the game should surround you with sin and hedonistic decadence, pressure you into smoking, drinking, and otherwise compromise your morals to continue. making you more uncomfortable, and taking you out of your comfort zone, abrading your nerves and leaving you on edge, and thus more susceptible to the games scares. instead, everything becomes alittle brighter, the women more wholesome and conservatively dressed, etc.

mind you, its not a Bad game... but its a shining example of wasted potential.
