Looking to create a server. I would like for it to be expandable to 64 Gigs. Any suggestions?

If you want error correcting memory like a real server has then you need to use either an Intel Xeon processor, or any AMD processor.

Error correcting can be useful with such large quantities of RAM, but if you want to keep the price cheap and bandwidth high then you would be limited to desktop memory.
For a cheap high memory server you could get an Intel Sabertooth x79 motherboard (for reliability and features) and the Quad core Sandy Bridge-E processor. Then 64GB of 1600 or 1866 memory.

CPU, MB, and RAM would cost $1060

For server memory on the cheap you would be looking at something along the lines of these:

For $1170. And as you can see, CPU speed is greatly reduces as well as memory speed. But definitely check for yourself if that memory is even compatible (I didnt do that research). Only buy something that is listed in the motherboard QVL.
