bummer. cool... but not sure i want them to replicate since "Raid" probably won't kill that.

.. it could be similar to the nanobot grey goo scenario. But that the scenario does not end there. It restructures itself as it evolves..it becomes sentient..it develops locomotion...it eats the star wars franchise.

the implications of this are far more frightening to me. If this can be done, its not a far cry to see synthetic-metallic retrovirus. That could mean a few things. 1) a revolutionary, game-changing way to fight cancer. 2) planet of the apes.

I always thought "grey goo" was such a weird idea. Why use Tungsten when you can use something way more versatile, like carbon? Besides, I thought they already have a name for a complex chemistry that endlessly replicates itself while constantly evolving. What was it again?

Oh yeah! It's called "Life". That was it. I think we already have some of that kicking around. :p

All this is really about is interesting biochemistry, just plain "doing something crazy awesome" and maybe some potential implications for life on other planets. You're not going to be crawling in metallic slime anytime soon. I promise. :D

I wonder, are they into Metallica? :p

Didn't read the article, in a hurry atm... sounds fascinating though. Will analyze it later.
