Within the last month I stopped using my Logitech G9 because I was getting sick of the fucking thing losing connection. The first one I had never had a problem with losing connection but this one had been quite the nuisance. That and I hadn't had the base station for charging plugged in for long time so both Lion packs were lacking a charge. It was all a good excuse to finally replace the damn thing. What I was going to replace it with was never really a competition. It was going to be a cyborg mouse and rat 7 or 9 was the only debate. I didn't feel like dealing with battery packs this time around so I opted for the wired RAT 7. I really like the customizable options on it so far and it's pretty comfortable. As wit any new peripheral it will take some getting used to but I like it already. I always find mice a tad on the slim side and with this one you can adjust length, width, height, weight and the pitch of the thumb rest. The pinky rest on it is one of the 3 that it comes with. No idea how it works with gaming yet and I don't do much gaming these days because I am always doing school work but I might take some aside time to test this thing out. took some photos of it so you can get an up close look of the thing.

This is possibly my favourite mouse so far.

Yeah, it has macro options. You can program all the buttons on it for whatever you wish. So 5 buttonsx3 settings = 15 options. There is a mode button just beside the left mouse button that lets you swap. I've spent a little time digging around the options but this weekend i will probably sit down and delve a little deeper. They have a profile download link but no profiles have been submitted yet with the thing being so new. I would imagine a lot are hesitant to get one since nobody likes changing mice and this thing looks ridiculous at first. All the reviews I read about it were very positive.

That thing looks so awkward to hold imo. I've always used small curved mice rather than that beast of a thing. It looks like it'll get up and start pew pewing everything in sight :p

I have always used wireless logitech mice....at least as long as I have been a gamer. I was never a fan of the cord clutter. The mx518 wireless that I had died because the contacts stopped functioning so it wouldn't charge anymore. Then on my old g7 charging station stopped charging the Lion battery packs. Now with the connectivity issues I had enough.

If you think 60$ was bad then the 110 for this would be too much to swallow for you methinks. There are 4 versions of this though so it can be had for cheaper. This one is the top of the line one. The RAT 9 costs a tad more since it is wireless but has all the same features. This looks wide and long because it's what I find comfortable and the pinky rest looks like it adds some bulk to it. It can be made slimmer.

Why use wireless if your a gamer? Wireless just adds extra latency to your gaming reaction time.

Now you may say, oh but can you really notice a difference of a few milliseconds?

Well yes you can actually, and each few milliseconds you add to your minimum reaction time can add up to the difference between a kill or being killed. My measured reaction time from a couple years ago was between 18-23 milliseconds.

I prefer mice that are wired, with the USB port overclocked to 1GHz, on a CRT monitor with the refresh rate at 100Hz using a graphics card that can run at a minimum of 100fps in the game I am playing. Thats what I used to run :)

My mouse of choice is the Razer Deathadder.
