Anyone tried this ? Seems like a minecraft type of game in a survival game ? Seems horrible as it's in Alpha right now but could be interesting.

The game is hilarious, but there's no actual point in it right now. No objective or anything, which I suppose is why it's sandbox, but there really isn't much to do other than build a small shack/house and then start making weapons to shoot people. But considering it's all done in Unity, and they've come crazy far in a very short time, I'm keeping an eye on the game.

I have been watching some of the live streams on Twitch TV: http://www.twitch.tv/directory/game/Rust It seems like a really fun game so far, its very similar to Garry's Mod or Minecraft in the sense that you start from scratch as a naked guy with only a rock and some pants but you hit your rock against trees to gather wood, against other rocks to gather ore, and you can craft weapons and gear using recipes. The most basic weapons are pickaxe, bow, rock, and the most basic armor is just pants or leather armor. The most advanced gear that I have seen people wearing is radiation hazard suits, Kevlar gear, and modern weapons like M4's, pistols, silencers, and some claymores to blow up the doors from peoples houses and loot all their stuff. Right now there isnt much to build since its in Alpha stage but its probably the best time to get started up and claim the best settlement areas before the game gets popular and all the good land is taken. From what I have seen in the streams most people build a base in the mountains together close to a deserted small town that is full of radiation and zombies. The town that is full of radiation and zombies spawns advanced gear every night (guns, blueprints to make metal housing, blueprints to make radiation proof suits, blueprints for kevlar gear) and the zombies drop advanced gear too. There are some servers where everyone kills each other on sight and takes all their inventory items while there are other servers where people with advanced gear generally leave naked people alone if they dont attack them. It is probably wise to start a small town with friends instead of starting alone for added security. When you die you lose all the items that were in your inventory and start from scratch, the only items that are retained are the items that you kept in storage inside of your player house and any blueprints that your character learned are still in your recipes list. That said this game looks really fun, if anyone else is playing it right now let me know and ill join your town or we can start together.
I think that all the weapons (M4, M9, etc..) are from the air drops or supply crates only. It makes sense tho that u can't "craft" a M4, if not, everyone would make one in their garage. Like Afghans do with AKs.
Im not sure if you can craft them yet but I do know that you can craft radiation suits after you learn it from blueprints. There are also "research kits" in the game, but I dont know what they do yet since I havent played myself, I have just been watching streams.
