rumor..blizzard making new mmo

diablo or starcraft theme..world of warcraft style play.

blizzcom 09, maybe have an announcement.

anyone heard about this?

 

They are working on a new MMO, but they haven't said anything about what it is or when it will be unveiled. I don't expect that to happen this year though; maybe next.

 

And they said it's a new IP. But that's not to say that they are not working on more then one mmo.

 

Man another WoW style. *sigh* so long as it doesn't have battlegrounds i will be excited.

 

it will likely be scifi themed.

this has been known for a while. a blizz person was asked a while back if they thought a sci-fi mmo could compete with fantasy ones (or somthing to that effect) and instead of the expected 'yea we kick ass' kinda answer, the guy got really defensive about the implication that scifi mmos couldnt compete

 

I would hope they wouldn't just clone WoW and stick different names on everything. If it was, they probably would have released a dozen of those by now heheh.

Kinda stupid of them to go with a new IP when they have Star Craft... I'd play a Star Craft MMO in a heartbeat even if it was crappy, but a new IP I'd actually have to see the gameplay, graphics, etc before I made a decision. More Blizzard fail, yay.

 

Ya they said that they were working on one a while ago. From what ive heard it is a new set of lore for this next game but you can never be too sure.

 

Ya i would DEF play a starcraft MMO. That would be so bad ass.

 

Why don't you jsut post the spam email blizz sent out.

 

i woud have loved diablo MMO. but with dablo 3 anounsed i doubt it will hapend.

a new ip is cool, what seting will it be, past, present or future.

and i know blizzard will deliver , there not many bad blizzard games out there

 

Blizzard doesn't skimp out on new games, so this will be something new and different from WoW. Sci-fi sounds about right.

 

There really needs to be a quality Sci-Fi MMO on the market!

 

I think I'm on Blizzard's mailing list, and that e-mail never found my inbox. Hmm.

Nope, not under "Spam" either.

Edit: After tracking down one of the real Blizzard Insider mailings, I suspect that's because it wasn't actually from Blizzard (they use a different e-mail address and don't seem to abbreviate their company name like that). Interesting.

I don't think it was from blizzard. Just some spam crap. It came through my hotmail account which I never use for games so I figured it was def spam.

 

The old Blizzard didnt' skimp out... the current team is not even close to the same team that did the old games, or even the ones that started WoW.

I can very much seeing Blizzard tossing out a SciFi version of WoW using the existing game engine... They would consider new story lines, and new graphics a "new" mmo I would guess...

I hope they dont', the old team had planned on the faction warfare to be more like warhammer... In fact I recall a quote of them wanting the PVP to be like Planetside, where you take over towns to control the zone and give perks type thing. (they did put a basic version of this into the first exp pack finially, but not like they first talked about.

 

There's no way they would use the existing engine. It's CRAP compared to the new shit out.

 

BUT, its crap that most mmo-players play. why waste money on 'great' when good sells better?
