Other Games ApplicationHow old are you? 50 What game are you applying for? FFXIV ARR In-Game Name? Sir Romikemi Do you have Teamspeak 3 and a mic? Yes Previous Gaming Experience: Five years in FFXI including two years leading a large casual linkshell and three years as a member of an endgame hardcore linkshell. Two years of FFXIV from launch to the shutdown of version 1.23 with a long break in 2011 while SE got their act together. All 18 classes capped at level 50. Four months in GW2, and I chose Stormbluff Isle to play with XoO if I liked the game. I'm glad people love it, but GW2 doesn't match my experience and preference in gaming. Twenty years of offline console and PC gaming, zero years of XBL and PSN play since I'm not about that crowd at all. I have no PvP experience. Why did you choose XoO: My hope is that Owainn's proposal to create an FFXIV ARR division of XoO is approved. I've known Owainn for about 18 months, and he has talked to me about XoO several times. He shows pride in XoO, and I've read the COC and believe that I will meet good players and help them succeed. I want to help Owainn build a successful ARR division. I want to join a dedicated group that is mature enough to avoid arguments and work on solving tactical problems rather than passing blame. Why do you think you'll be a good fit? I'm passionate about the games I play, but mainly about the success I contribute to the group. I care more about collective success than individual success. Nothing irks me more than to see a guild with two or three members min/max'd head to toe while the rest of the members are in rags. I've run large groups, and I've been a batphone-toting HNM claim and hold main healer in XI. In my three years as lead red mage, I claimed a total of 4 major drops and spent my points after others were equipped. My mages joked that they were better equipped than me. I'm 50, and my reflexes aren't the best, but my strategy and tactics make up for that. My lack of twitch has a lot to do with my disinterest in GW2. In a traditional trinity MMORPG like ARR, I hit my maximum potential and I help others win. What will you contribute to the guild? My 18 maxxed out classes in XIV 1.0 provide XoO ARR division members with unlimited access to crafting any recipe in the game and obtaining any gathering drop. As a mage, monk, and lancer primary in that order, I've levelled all the battle classes and learned how to work with them and show new players party mechanics. The cooperative play style of a trinity game requires players to learn when not to grab the spotlight. As a mature player, I can provide that guidance without being a dick about it. Localization: NA Do you have a referral? Owainn A little bit about yourself? As a corporate monkey by day, gaming is my escape. It needs to be fun above all else. Long term epic scale MMO is my genre because it supports the journey as the reward. I don't rush to the end then pose in town. I'm going to put on a yard sale of gear and pose next to an AFK e-peen before I'll be one. I'm socially vocal on TS, but not to a fault and I focus during raids. I want to know guild members as people, but at their pace. I'm an electronica freak and hate death metal. I'm a beer snob and a pescatarian. I'm a boss' last nightmare. Activity level? 30-35 Do you have a high speed internet connection and a good computer? Yes Have you applied to your game's usergroup? No
So it begins; Welcome to our (semi) humble community. It might be a bit before this application gets processed thought due to organization on our end (Xen side for FF14:RR), but I figured it would be nice to greet you as I have pre-ordered and looking forward to playing ARR when it releases this August. It is good to see veterans of FFXI/Legacy around.
Sure, np. Owainn said it'd be early for me to be posting an app but I figured it'd be best if I show support for the game and the guild. I'm glad to see interested members. FFXIV might have been road kill but I think ARR has potential. I'm curious to see an unbiased opinion from GW2 players, since the two games are different in as many ways as they're the same.
I am looking forward to the next closed beta (whether I am in it or not is another matter thought). To be honest, I would be more tempted to link FF14:ARR back towards my Korean MMO experience rather than WoW/or GW1-2 experience. At least from first impressions, it gave me a much more eastern fantasy feel with the art style, animations, and skill effects. The engine looks really clean, which is super important for someone like myself who finds GW2 a rage inducing frustration when keystrokes are basically ignored/and I can count the time between key press and skill activation. GW2 got some things right, but engine and game play wasn't one of them : \. Looking forward to watching certain classes in actions (Bard, Monk, Dragoon) thought, and exploring a game world with a mount again (finally).
