The biggest piece of bullshit metal disorder I've ever heard of:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oppositional_defiant_disorder

A friend of mine started teaching this year, and has a student in her class with ODD. The kid gets to yell and scream about pretty much anything, and he can't do anything about it. Here is some homework.. "NO I'M NOT DOING IT I HATE HOMEWORK". Drops a pencil... "I HATE SCHOOL I GIVE UP". Completely disruptive to the class, but she can't punish the kid or kick him out of class because it is a "mental disorder". Biggest piece of bullshit ever.

I swear to god if parents whacked their kids a bit more, shit like this wouldn't exist...

I hate when you make posts! I refuse to read this!

On a serious note. My 4 year old cousin might have this disorder. He has been suspended from preschool at least twice, prescribed medication and is seeing a therapist. He is the only person I have heard of having anything like this tho.

isnt the fact they get smacked the reason for all of this.

either way I find it quite odd someone can actually blame a mental kid and would want to punish him. That's like me kicking you in the balls for making this thread...it makes no sense. But that is just IMO. ;)

I figured I would post that im kidding as it may be taken the wrong way. =P

I was spanked as a kid, and I never did shit like this. I would have whipped the kid.

I've never felt there was anything wrong with spanking or anything...Just in extreme moderation. NOT doing shit all is why "disorders" like this are created. Acts like this 20 years ago would have been met with a hand on ass.

When I was in elementary parents could sign a form allowing the principal to spank you. My mom signed it.

Yea, there are special classes for that. There is no excuse for this kid. I would beat his ass, my mom beat mine and I'm fine. She could have taken me to a therapist if she wanted to, but instead she whipped me and now I'm fine.

So the disorder is just basically when kids are more disobedient than normal. Now I dont think that is a disorder treat them like a normal kid get them in trouble and they will learn one way or another.

i totally agree discipline is definitely needed for going in a corner and thinking never worked for me i was out of the corner as soon as possible going back to being a hellion but the time my papa brought the belt down on me i my behavior drastically changed(well till my mum and papa split) and i find it does work.
My mum was smart she figured hell if my kids were going to dis-behave they are going to be punished and if they want to call 911 she would dial it for us or drive us to the PoPo office
Parents are to afraid of the law they end up fearing there kids and thats why kids dis-behave for they have no reason to behave since its not likely there parents are going to do anything when they can just take them to court under child abuse
Child discipline is severely needed in this day and yet not allowed which is the sad part, since 1 the government is dictating what happens in the privacy of our home and 2 when kids get abused the school brain washes them to take action against the parents.

So who is truly at fault for how the kids act now a days the parents that are forced to live in fear of their child or the government that made it that way?

Both. Some individual that had no right being a parent fucked it up for everyone. Abused kids need to be encouraged to speak, but getting the school involved in a spanking incident just calls for another ass whooping when that kid gets home the next time.

I do think the line between what is a genuine mental problem and simply a poorly disciplined child may be getting blurred these days.

I believe certain things can be fixed by care, some by discipline, but most of all it can be fixed by paying attention to your kid. If you want to find an excuse for the kid to dis-behave then your not a parent your the kid. Also if they have a mental problem you need to be there to help them threw it for it will make it easier for them in the future.

Though one thing I notice now a days is 50% of kids have ADD/ADHD, whats up with that? Hell I know schools are happy they get more money to take care of those kids. But what is ADD/ADHD truly? I see it as an excuse for parents to reason with when their kid is dis-behaving, also gives the kid an excuse to dis-behave. Also promote drug use, since what is Ridulin, last I checked it was Speed in monitored doses. Hell they tried to say I had ADHD when I was a kid, hell I even believed them to. They try to brainwash kids for they want money and hell you get a disabled kid with ADD/ADHD hey thats gets more money for them so why not try and get kids registered as one(wrong wording but cant think of the right terminology atm)? I look back threw my school years between the mess-ups and everything and if I did have a disability it would have been being deaf(even though I have perfect hearing last i checked). But maybe if parents payed attention to their kids more ADD/ADHD would be not real? Maybe if they had their kids do something other then video games/watch TV they wouldn't have it who knows? But yes I know ADD/ADHD is a true dis-order that some people have, but I'm sorry that I can't believe that half our youth have it, can you?

Good to see you posting Klocknov, haven't seen you in a long long time.

Anyway, the problem is the PC reqs for teachers in relation to mental disorders, not the classification of it being a mental disorder in the first place. People with pissy attitudes should not be carebear'd into thinking that having a pissy attitude makes you a beautiful and unique snowflake, it makes you that brown snow from underneath the car.

P.S. WTB guy in santa suit to throw charcoal at these kids.

We were thinking of blowing up a pumpkin with fireworks this year.

Anyway, I'll launch the annual XoO Great Pumpkin Contest on Oct 1st, anyone is free to PM me to discuss the rules for this years contest, but generally its open enough that no one has problems with it in the other years.
