Guild Wars 2 ApplicationHow old are you? 27 In-Game Name? Retl Do you have Teamspeak 3 and a working microphone? Yes What kind of content do you prefer to play and why? Both What type of content do you want to play with XoO and how well do you think you will be able to work as a team to achieve it? WvW - would like to not be part of the zerg - unless the situation calls for it - but basically want to experience more depth in WvW PvE - Enjoy it in general - I like having good gear - don't care a ton about skins, but will upgrade if I see a reasonable opportunity to get something I like. Basically... no legendary for me unless I randomly fall into 100s of gold. Never really done sPvP - but would be willing to start at some point, after I get more comfortable in WvW. What top five games have influenced you the most? Unreal Tournament - First shooter I played that liked - played mostly assault, and then onsalught in UT2004. Also liked the lack of "realism" in the weapons - just the uniqueness of them all. Warcraft 2 - First RTS. Can't say I was ever good at it, but used to read build orders and stories from Shlonglor about smurfing and whatever like it was the best thing ever written. FFVII - Cliche answer, I know, but first RPG I played. Totally loved it. I was also a fantasy fan (books) - so not surprising, but really set me up for loving RPGs. WoW - played a tank for many years - Vanilla - Wrath of the Lich King. - . Never really did much on the raiding side, as I was in a small friendly guild, but did many many 5 mans. Learned all of the basic mechanics of being a tank - I hadn't really "learned" a game to a high level before this, so understanding the actual mechanics of things was new to me. It was very satisfying to lead a 5 man group through a dungeon for whatever reason - using LoS, marking targets, holding multiple mobs - trying to make the situation fun because it was less difficult. GW2 was definitely amusing for me as aggro is not anywhere near the same concept - nor desired. Also the shift from some movement and many abilities to lots of movement and fewer abilities was interesting. Tribes Ascend - Great shooter (CTF is most played game type) -positioning is more important in this game than others - not that position isn't important in other games, because obviously it is - but you are a special kind of useless if you're out of position in Tribes. So much so that it's expected that you'll suicide when your job is done returning a flag, or you're enough out of position to be useless. Definitely more my style as I like playing a team atmosphere compared to a solo one. Requires a lot of timing and correctly lining up shots in short periods of time given large inertia - and yet, not really a twitchy game. What guilds have you played with? Bushido - Dalaran Server - WoW This is the only guild I've played with. Joined probably 1-2 months after launch, stayed until I stopped playing WoW altogether - probably 3-4 months after Rise of the Lich King was released. The guild was pretty much just about everyone being friendly, rather than having much of an agenda. I really enjoyed the atmosphere - I was probably one of the youngest people in the guild at 19-20. There were mostly 20-40 somethings in the guild, a number of married couples. There were definitely times when the lack of raiding was a little frustrating - but when it came down to it, I valued being in a guild of people I "knew" more than I cared about looking for epics. Towards the end of my time in WoW I was living in a different time zone than the server, so I was mostly soloing or running late night 5 mans. This was too bad, as obviously content had shifted to cater to smaller groups. That said, it wasn't enough to make me transfer to a server in my timezone. It was definitely a great place to hang out. What attracts you to this guild more than others? The fact that you have an application for sure. In WoW, most guilds had applications, but few seemed to have actually rigorous processes for accepting members. GW2 has seen some of the worst of this - definitely gotten many random guild invites, which is almost a surefire way to make sure I don't join your guild. It was very refreshing to see someone in LA saying to come check out the website - I did so immediately. I like that while the focus seems to be more on WvW/sPvP, there will be people doing PvE as well. Not sure if that will be required for the best gear (seems like it), but I do like to mix up my play. That said, I see WvW as the endgame at the moment, so I would like to be in a coordinated group. There's only so much time one can zerg after a blue dot before getting frustrated. I'd like to learn to be much better at PvP - this seems like a place where people take their gaming relatively seriously, so I'd look forward to that. To me - this is the type of recruitment process that I look for, so I'm not sure I could suggest anything to change. What about this guild suits your personality? I think I'll fit in pretty well with the general population of XOO. I've definitely been in a guild long term that was a mature environment. That said - no game is fun if it's all maturity and professionalism - so I'm looking forward to the laughs as well - at my expense or other wise. My workplace is a similar environment, so it's definitely something I'm used to. What will you contribute to the guild? Starting off - I think at can at least offer a regular presence in WvW. My skills may not be up to snuff quite yet, but I'm very willing to learn. Moving forward, I think I can offer a solid WvW presence, able to function well within the team without needing much explanation to be effective. Given my WoW 5 mans days, I also have a lot of fun in instances. My current FotM level is low, but I'm definitely the type to help people through the levels, regardless of my own. And now that it seems like no one does any other dungeons, happy to help out with all of those as well. Basically, just looking to help out with everything, and have fun. Do you play on North American servers or European servers? NA If so, enter the name of the person who referred you to XoO, otherwise leave this blank. - A little bit about yourself? Former music major turned numbers guy. (I do a lot of reports/spreadsheet applications with VBA - excel macro language). I tend to be pretty laid back in my personal life - probably a response to working with a lot of numbers/programming at work. I have a sense of humor about basically everything - other than people actually getting hurt. I enjoy sports - mostly hockey (this is the sharks year - if they never play, they can just claim they would have won, right?) and pro/college football. I also do quite of bit of beer brewing. How much time will you play per week, on average? Wide range - but probably between 15-30. Do you have a high speed internet connection and a good computer? Can your computer and connection handle large battles in WvW? Yes Have you applied to the GW2 usergroup? Yes
