So the big rumor going around is these are the specs for the new 7000 series models, if true then the top end card would be INSANELY fast :O It almost doesnt seem possible to be true because of the specs: The 6970 (current top end single card) is in there for comparison. large increase in ROPs, TMUs, a shader cores, along with a clock increase? And the rumors XDR2 memory? Would be crazy if true. I could see the clock increase along with power decrease from dropping to that new 28nm process node, maybe even with the additional shader cores on top. But that many extra ROPs and TMUs too? :O The lower end models look to be shrinks of the current cards onto a smaller process, with only the two top end cards being new models with tweaked cores for the different memory controller to enable XDR2 and the additional computing resources. The other rumor is TSMC has a ton of problems with their 28nm node, which would mean bad yields (which = low stock when they launch) and higher power consumption with lower clock speeds too. Only time will tell on this one.
If true, the 7850 will be the best deal for the money. So those of you looking for a new card you might want to wait another month or two.
Rumors around that they may only have a few thousand for release in December. Which means premium pricing until the stocks get built up. A 6950 can be had for under 200 now so I'll probably go with one of those for my build.
